University of Hawaii at Manoa Top Questions

What is the stereotype of students at University of Hawaii at Manoa? Is this stereotype accurate?

Marissa

The stereotype that I think is attached to my school is that we are laid back and don't study very much.

Nancy

Stereotypes will exist, I can tell you that much. There will be cliques, mostly within group of friends who already know each other and especially within different clubs. However, from my experience, we do not have stereotypes like jocks, frat kids, stoners, and geeks, to give some examples. It may very well be stereotypes based on your ethnicity because at UH Manoa, most ethnic groups are not considered minorities.

Miguel

Unfortunately, many of the in-state students at UH are seriously unprepared for college due to Hawaii's awful public schools. However, there are plenty of intelligent kids here. But maybe not so many intelligent kids who are here to be excellent students...if there are any, they are in select, excellent departments or they will likely be transferring out soon.
