dating scene?
yikes. starbucks is about as "date-y" as you're gonna get in IV. maybe subway next door. unless you're official, you're staying in IV and getting cookiewich. doesn't do too much to woo a girl.

In my opinion the dating scene is kind of week. When you live a block and a half from the girl of you're dreams it seems a little excessive to take her to dinner. Also with open parties and the ridiculous amount of people willing to hook up randomly, it's hard to get motivated to tie your self down, or face real rejection.

the dating scene here is not great. because of the party lifestyle, a lot of ppl are just looking to hook up and dont want commitment. however, quite a few of my friends have started long term relationships here, so its not impossible to find.

anacapa is the best dorm
sororities are amazing
parties are huge for meeting people but bad for relationships... if looking for a bf/gf, dont find one at a party
iv is the place to be on weekends

Club sports are competitive and fun. They require a lot of self discipline and dedication in the UCSB environment. There are many programs offered to keep students from drinking for fun. There are concerts, movie screenings, comedy acts, and other special events every weekend that are very cheap or free for students to attend.

ASUCSB. Sororities & Fraternities, Soccer team.
I'm involved in ASUCSB.
Many students in dorms leave their doors open.
Soccer, basket ball, and volleyball games have good turnouts.
Random hookups always happen at parties.
I met my closest friends through living together in the dorm in freshman year and through student government in my sophomore year.
2 am on a Tuesday, doing hw/studying
Halloween!!!
People party ALL THE TIME!
Collectively, not a big factor of the campus.
Last weekend, up studying.
Partying. Hanging out with friends.
Partying, living, eating, going to classes, shopping, sunbathing.

Greek life is big. I'm involved in Alpha Phi. Great sorority strong girls, I don't drink. I promote that. I am who I am. I'm an opera singer involved in productions and also involved with Shrunken Heads productions doing Jekyl and Hyde. YEs some leave their doors open. Athletic events=popular. Guest speaker at beginning of year was amazing. I'm involved in theater. A lot of people have things for each other, we are in college! Some people party daily others once a week. Sororities/Frats?? Important?? I would say they are great to get acquainted with people that like to have a good time and be apart of organization with strong individuals. The drama definitely needs to stop. Went to sorority formal with a girlfriends downtown! I don't drink. My friends and I found an empty box and made an obstacle course, play volleyball on the beach, swim, watch a movie, go to State Street! Go to State Street!

The greek life is popular.
Students in dorms leave their doors open. It ventilates the room and welcomes people in, which is especially useful at the beginning of the year when you don't know anybody.
Soccer and basketball games are very popular. So are certain guest speakers. Don't know about theater. Dating scene is pretty good. Lots of single guys and girls. But parties are not the best place to meet them, especailly if you want a relationship. Most people at parties just want to hook up.
I met my closest friends in the dorm last year. We lived in the same hall.
If I'm awake at 2am on Tues, it means I'm studying.
Halloween is HUGE! The weekend closest to it as well as the actual day are both celebrations. People make sure they have a different costume for each day. And thousands of people just walk up and down DP.
A lot of people party every weekend or every other weekend.
frats and sororities are important to the people in them and they have parties but I don't pay much attention to them.
I partied and studied last weekend.
On a sober sat night, you can hang out with friends, go to a party sober, go to a movie, go to the comedy routine at the UCen, study, watch tv. Getr creative.
I live off campus so I do pretty much everything off campus.

the most popular clubs and teams on campus are soccer and lacrosse. The people in the dorms are usually pretty open and easy to talk to sincw everybody is here to make new friends in the first few weeks. There is a lot of events to go to almost any night of the week, including weekends. Fraternities and Sororities aren't important in the social scene, since there is parties all along DP, with frats and sororities farther from DP. During the day there is always people working out in the gym and playing soccer or just sitting/studying in the sun on a nice day.

I am in the sorority Alpha Phi. I know sorority girls have reputations for being brainless, drunken sluts, but I know every girl in my sorority defies those stereotypes. 3 girls from Alpha Phi are on Mock Trial. We have quite a few girls in the honors program. We have several girls in pre-med, pre-law, and other extensive majors. It doesn't mean that we don't like to have fun, but it also means that that is not our main priority.
