The best thing is its a relaxed environment. there are a lot of places on campus where you can go and find something that caters to each person's inviidcual personality. there are a lot of great orgs on campus that people can participate in. the campus may be a little too large...some people say if you are from ERC and you are dating someone in Sixth college its a long distance relationship. we need a football team, or some way to increase school spirit. the college tends to be divided by 'college spirit" rather than UCSD spirit. the classes can be pretty hard, but there are a wide range of classes about all different topics. the greek system isnt very large but i think that makes it better. there needs to be greek houses though, la jolla does not allow it.

The best thing at UCSD is SunGod! This festival is one of the only events that truly inspires everyone to have a good time and enjoy themselves, and it promotes so much school unity. This one day in the entire year is the time students relax and just hang out before the craziness of finals. The day events allow students to have fun and the night concert is the best, with all students coming out for food fun and festivities!! UCSD is not part of a college town. San Diego is a huge area. There is little school pride on campus, but after graduating there is a strong sense of pride since it is such a good school.

I love how close we are to the beach. The town of La jolla isn't so much a college town. There is a real division between the college students living here and everyone else. Other than spirit night there isn't a lot of school pride. I love all the music groups that come to campus. i will always remember rushing and my first few weeks being in my sorority. It was such a great experience meeting everyone!

La Jolla is definitely not a college town. It's expensive to live here and there is no diversity in the city or on campus at all. There is very minimal school pride which sucks because there's not too much to unite the students. The school is HUGE, but it's good because you don't feel suffocated and you can always meet new people if you're outgoing.

It's a clean campus. ADD A FOOTBALL TEAM!! School is just right. People are impressed I go here.

The best thing at UCSD are the friends you will make. The beaches are clean and refreshing. The school may seem large but its filled with surprises and art. The library itself is a landmark. This is not a college town campus, but you can get a real college experience. There lack school pride, but it is improving!

The campus and location is amazing. I also have met lots of very cool people, through sports and clubs, some of which are now my best friends. I would change our school spirit. I think our school is a really good size, kind of large, but that makes for all types of people. People think that UCSD is quite prestigious, because it is. I spend most of my time walking to class, around Price Center, and in my on campus apartment. I will always remember Sun God 2007 since it was my first Sun god concert and was lots of fun, and our campus was transformed into a very fun and carefree atmosphere for just one day.

Brett

the prestigious reputation, too big but like the smaller college system in it

I think that since I have joined the greek system I have gotten more of the college experience that I thought I would have. I have a lot more friends, am involved in school, and am around people who like to be social. I think its a very positive aspect to our school. I would, as most people have also expressed, would like a football team. I think it would contribute more school spirit that we are definitely lacking. When I tell people I go to UCSD they usually first say "Oh, party school." Then I correct them and say "No you're thinking of SDSU." Most people don't really know anything about our school, because we haven't really created a name for ourselves outside of the sciences. La Jolla is definitely not a college town. Growing up in Santa Barbara I guess I had a picture of what a college town would be. I think thats why UCSB can have so much school spirit without a big sports team. We don't have a big sports team or a college town.
