UCSD is known as a research institute that has many nobel prize winning professors. It is located along the coast of beautiful Southern California which makes the beach a hot spot for students. Unlike many of the other schools in California, UCSD is not known for being a party school, as the academics are tough and most students take their students pretty seriously.

Although reputed to be a "socially dead" school due to its rigorous academics, UCSD's annual Sun God Festival is a hipe by featuring a fair, modern art performances, and a mix of underground and mainstream bands. The Stuart collection attracts untraditional, rising artists, while the rolling hills and fresh air provide the best environment for joggers. Its close proximity to the world-renowned Black?s Beach makes UCSD the #1 campus in the nation for surfing.

U.C. San Diego is best geared towards science majors, especially those planning to apply to medical school. As a pre literature/writing major with an interest in the health sciences; however, I have so far found that the college is also not lacking in the humanities/liberal arts category, though that is not what we are known for.
