University of California-Merced Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about University of California-Merced? Why?

Amanda

That there are no teaching or medical majors.

Una

I suppose the worst thing is that my school is located "in the middle of no where." It is true that Merced is indeed a farmland. It is true that there isn't much to do outside of the campus. But future students should keep in mind that it's not what the school or the surroundings have to offer to you, it's what you choose to offer and how you choose to live the experience that really matters.

Jose

The worst thing about my school is the current grouping of classroom. The contrustion of the new buildings has not been completed yet, making the classrooms of bigger sizes very quick to fill up. Once the new buildings are completed then the classes will be assigned to their rightful room.

Jennifer

The worst thing about my school is sometimes also its best qualitiy and that is its rural location. It's rural location allows students to focus on their studies without worries of social activities. However, it's rural location is also hard on students because of the lack of social activities during the weekends when some students would like more to do.

maria

I would consider the fact that there is not much to do outside of campus.

Vinh

The worst thing about my school would be it's lack of interesting things to do. There aren't enough activities around here to keep the students occupied over the weekends, so a good amount of them end up going home a lot of the time.

michelle

It's too small. The students are immature and the new classes of freshmen tend to get even more immature.

Jacob

The worst thing is also the best thing. The school being so new means that is lacks the prestige of more established schools. UC Merced is no Harvard, but that is also what is so beautiful about it. It is like a newborn baby, it takes time before it gets bigger and makes a name for itself. However in the interim, the students that are here flourish with the programs available. Despite there are no sports teams, there is a comradery here that is unrivaled, and only made possible due to its size.

Travis

The teachers that are moving in and out have never taught before. This is unfair to the students because they get lower grades for a teacher that teaches the coarse material poorly.

Jessica

not enough student!
