That Michelle Obama was our keynote speaker and that the educational experience is so much different that what you would expect to get from an already developed university. This is a growing school with so many opportunities that you would not find on big campuses.

I brag the most about the location because although this is not a big city and surrounded by mostly rural area, it is only 2 hours away from San Francisco, only an hour from the beautiful eastern corrider of California, Yosemite. I grew up in the city my entire life so I appreciated the nature that UCMERCEd provides; even the campus is full of wildlife, where people most frequently see rabbits and raccoons but it is not uncommon to spot a Bobcat in the later evening. The environment provides me with a unique serenity to focus on my studies.
