Breath taking campus in all it's beauty. I feel like a name not a number here at University of Arkansas Little Rock. As a online student, I still feel I am part of the student body. The beauty is the buildings, the knowledgeable instructors, professors to the Admissions staff.

I attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as a student-athlete. I loved my time as an athlete. The athletic directors and coaches definitely cared about the student experience and held high expectations for learning before athletics. However, the facilities at the school were not the greatest. They are revamping a lot of the campus, though, and many areas are much nicer than when I first began attending here. The class sizes are great with a small professor-student ratio, most professors are willing to work with you and get to know you personally. The location of the school is in a more dangerous part of the city. I also always wished the amenities were better, like more student discounts and better restaurants on campus. We had a knock-off Starbucks until my junior year, and when they finally built that, they got rid of all the coffee and snack stands on campus except for one on the far side. And the convenience store on campus literally only sells junk food, cheese, and milk. Good luck finding an apple that isn't weeks old. Regardless, the education was fair and I made many friends. Little Rock itself isn't too bad, either (as long as you know the right places to go)!

UALR is a great school. I love how the school has available facilities after hours for studies and workout classes. Also the atmosphere on campus is strong, such as everyone participates every Thursday for spirit day. Lastly the business program is very helpful with preparing you for your future.

  16. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

The biggest stereotype accompanies UALR is that most of us are over the age of 25, married, and have children. Our school is viewed as having only a few traditional students that attend. That is NOT true. At UALR, there is a big diversity between race and age groups. In fact as a freshman that transferred straight from high school to college, I have seen an overwhelming amount of students that are in my age group 18-20. In all my classes, there have been maybe 2 people over 25 and non over 60. Even though our institution supports the continuing education of non-traditional students by the Adult Student Advocacy, we are composed of mostly students coming straight out of high school seeking to further their education.

Most of my professors have been a great influence to my life. They teach you the importance of the subject of what ever you are majoring in. Now I only had a few professors I had trouble with such as the class not being organized, the expectations are high, and I had to make an appeal in those classes. Overall, the professors are great. You just have to work really hard and create a network with them.

  21. Why did you decide to go to this school?

I decided to go to this school, because it was closer to the center of business, politics, culture, and education for my state. It offered an opportunity to be around professional who work in the fields that they instruct rather than teaching the hypothetical. The professors are constantly looking at opportunities and advancing their careers, so they are more in tune with the state of economic opportunities offered both locally and abroad, so you can expect a realistic view of the job market upon graduation.
