I wish I had known the financial state of the state of Arizona because that has affected the school since I have been here. It has cut programs, lowered financial aid and raised tuition. Otherwise, I had a preconceived notion (not the fault of the university's) that on-campus housing was one of the cheapest options, which it is defineitely not. I would strongly recommend it for freshman year, but advise moving off campus after. Same with the meal plan, it is very convenient but not that great on price.

I wish that I would have known the real amount that it would cost in order to attend college and obtain all of the materials needed. Sure they tell you about tuition, room and board, meal plans, etc., but it is not told the amount books, lab fees, college fees, and other materials that are necessary to be successful in college. If I would have known this, then I would have put a lot more time into finding scholarships.

In high school I thought I wanted to go somewhere far, far away. Take flight and spread the proverbial wings of adulthood. Turns out I made the right choice in staying close to home. There are several reasons for this, mainly my family and friends. Many high school students believe high school is meant to be shed away like an old onion skin as soon as they receive their diploma. Keep your friends and stay close to your family. Maybe your future does take you far away but do not forget the people you tresured the last four years.

There was one thing that I wish I had known at the beginning of the semester, the University's final schedule. I registered for the classes that were required and fit my schedule. What I was not aware that the final exams were given at a different time than the regular scheduled class time. My first semester final schedule included three finals on the same day! I attempted to move one of these finals to an earlier date; however that was only possible for those students with four finals in the same day. It was terribly stressful.

As a third generation Wildcat, there wasn't all that much information I missed out on, but when I started school, I was glad to have a class that showed how many resoucres there are for tutoring and career counseling.

I wish I would have known that many of the general education requirment classes were filled with so many students.

I wish that I had decided to live in the dorms so I could be on campus and in the middle of all the excitement!

I wish I realized that loans can be quite a lengthy process.

Going through many classes, I have learned many very helpful things. The main and most important tip I can give to new students is to be "fearless" when it comes to something you may be interested in. Getting involved in anything and everything that may involve his or her major can and will only benefit them. Having more and more experience will help each student in the many new experiences that each may encounter throughout their college education.
