When making a choice about what schools to attend keep this few thing in mind; distance, location, cost. Distance because if you like me you dont want to be to far from your family but far enough so the can't just pop up on you with out telling you. Location because you want to know whats around the school like shopping malls, grocery stores, and what kind of communite is around the school. Im sure you would not want to go to a school with a communite that has a high crime rate.

I would say make sure you at least have a top five choice of universities to apply. You should visit each campus and ask students of that campus how life is there. Ask details of the positive and negative aspects, and then make your final decision.

To select the best choice for your future school, make sure as a parent or student that it is the best fit for your child or you as a student. By making a selection as far as a four year university, schools are expensive and selecting the wrong school in this economy could cause damage on your pocket. A student will also succeed in an environment that he/she likes.

Learn all that is offered and never take advantage of your education although your feel it is unnecessary to learn. Parents make sure that your allow children to pick their own school and do not force them to get an education if their wish is not to attend a college at all.

In choosing a desired college, visitation is a must. Some people choose colloges based off the hear say method. But upon entering they find that the schol is nothing that they thought it was or heard it would be. I feel the students make the experience for the school worth while or not. For example, here at Tuskegee Uiniversity, our students enteract with each other, we sing songs and chants and most of all are focused on what we are here at school for. We are the reason Tuskegee is the way it is, although the administration assists us in get what we request, they play their role well. A college should be a place where the student finds him or herself. To understand what path they will start and continue down on. This is a time for the student to become a man or women based on the struggles that come with adulthood and leaving the parents wing. As the Bible says, "When i was a child i thought like a child and acted like a child, but when i grew older i put childish things behind me." And this is ultimately what will occur while entering in adulthood.

Students should make sure they are going to or applying for a college that has the following essentials: great academic environment condusive to learning; support system that will help keep students on track (friends, family, tutors, etc); a school that will guarantee you financial aid to assist with the cost of attandance; somewhere the student will feel safe and comfortable; and the assurance that once you earn your desired degree(s) you have a job waiting for you upon graduation. Parents should let the students make the defining decision on which school they want to attend based on their knowledge of the institution. Parents should also be supportive of their child's decision to further enhance their life by bettering themselves with the acquisition on knowledge.

The advice I would give to students and parents alike would be to make sure you/your young adult is fully prepared for the change of environment that college includes. While college is a great opportunity both academically and socially, it is also a huge responsibility. It was in college that I learned most of my independence. Even if you believe that you are ready for the transition you should make sure that college is the right avenue to travel. College can be a fun and rewarding experience if you adequately learn and take full advantage of the opportunities availabe for you and prepare yourself in advance. If you are prepared both mentally and academically college can be an opportunity any individual can both enjoy and profit from.

i would encourage students to pick the school that they feel will support their goals and that the school is just right. Pick the school that will support you financially. Also, it's important to pick the school that offered you the most money for a scholarship. Make sure that students actually visit the school of your chioce before making any decisions because the school of your chioce may not be whqat you had expected it be. So make sure that you pick the school in which you feel at home and comfortable.
