I wish I had know how big Greek Life really was on campus. The information makes it seem like it isn't a big deal if you don't go through rush but most of my friends at least did and not being a part of it makes it harder socially. Also, Greek Life, at least for sororities is very pricy, ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 a semester if you join a Panhellenic sorority.

The one thing I wish people told me about freshmen year was how much work I had to do and how to balance both my social life, work life, and school life. Even though I learned by the second semester I wish someone told me before hand!

I wish I could have visited Downtown Dallas a bit more. Before I learned about Southern Methodist University, I had only seen Dallas through the DFW Airport windows during layovers. Now I see what lies beyond the streches of concrete of the airplane runways. I can't wait to go explore in a new city and learn both inside and outside the classroom. The experiences I will have in Dallas will help shape me as a person and help me learn more about myself. The possibilities are endless and I am anxious to start a new chapter in my life.

The initial transition to college was more difficult than I had anticipated, and caused a great deal of stress related to lonliness and being apart from family. Although I had heard going to college would be the greatest transition I would have had in my life, I was unprepared for the emotions i experienced being away from home. In hindsight, I wish I would have researched more about how to manage this transition, versus being swept away with the romantic notion of living away fro home.

One thing I know now that I wish I knew as a High School senior is that college is the place to discover yourself and make new, innovative decisions. If you come into school thinking you know exactly what you want and how you want to acheive it, you run the risk of dissapointment and occasionally failure. If you come in with an open mind and no preconceived notions and it will be the greatest, most liberating experience of your life.

I wish I knew that some of the financial promises the school makes are not kept, and that there are still lecture classes with lots of students for the survey classes. They are not nearly as big as a public university, but they still exist even on the sophomore level.

How undiverse the school really is. The school claimed to have been racially diverse, when really the percentage of non-white kids are slim.

I wish I had known how awesome it was.

That living on campus can tend to be a huge distraction from school, despite best intentions. It's also important to stay on top of classes, and to make sure to do the homework, even if it is "optional," because it will help you when it comes time to take the tests.

I wish I had known to go out more first semester to meet potential greek ties. But it really wasn't a big deal. There is nothing too important I didn;' know.
