What is the stereotype of students at Southern Methodist University?

Jessie

I think that because the greek system is such a central part of SMUs social atmosphere SMU students tend to be stereotyped as what greek students are stereotyped as: un-diverse, snobby, wealthy.

Julia

Everyone is rich and blonde and is in either a fraternity or a sorority.

John

People stereotype SMU by saying that the students are very snobby and their parents provide everything for them. They also think that the greek community is an outlet that harbors drugs and alcohol abuse.

Ryan

That everyone is extremely rich, rude and dumb. And that we only like to drink and party.

Katherine

sorority girls and fraternity boys are often thought of as rich, spoiled, and superficial.

Jennifer

YES!!!! Barbies and Kens are everywhere. Money/Greek/parties are a huge part of the campus life. Southern 'Millionaires" University

Hannah

Rich snobby kids who attend a country club school. Females are looking to get their Mrs. degree by meeting the male who will take over his fathers company upon graduation.

Terry

NOT everyone is an heir to some oil billionaire or King of some far off foreign country. Everyone does like to show off what brand their wearing (i.e. Louis Vuitton Bags with that crap all over it). JuicyCampus.com does not need to run people's lives. People need to get over the garbage that losers post on it just for some attention.

Charlie

The stereotype for a typical SMU student is rich, beautiful, and parties/drinks a lot. Designer jeans, purses, sunglasses, iPhone, BMW, etc. Girls and guys are always dressed up to go to class. Mommy and Daddy pay for everything. Rich snobs, materialistic, and fake. SMU is known as "the bubble" because everyone is so rich.

McKenzie

Some NEGATIVE stereotypes about SMU students are basically that we are all rich and stuck up party people. However, in my time there, I have not met ONE unfriendly person. Everyone there I believe is there to better there education and potentially have a successful future. Its a very sociable friendly school, in which all help each other out on many different aspects.
