What are the academics like at Simmons College?

Most classes at Simmons are small, so professors know you're name. I am majoring in Arts Administration, a very small, music and communication-based major here at Simmons. Because of its small interest, classes for me are small but so much fun. We go on class field trips to see the Boston Symphony Orchestra perform, the Boston Ballet Company, and so much more. Classes are also very interactive. Academic requirements can be a bit daunting once you see the list, but I quickly realized that it wasn't so bad, if so many smart women have already graduated and gone on to the work force. Education is definitely geared towards getting a job. In my major, we will have to do an internship during our senior year. It is also a requirement for all undergraduate students, no matter what major, to do internship work- this is great for getting jobs in our current economy.

Academics at Simmons College are challenging courses. Some classes may be more demanding than others, which are usually courses within a student's major. Simmons College offer many majors, ranging from social work to chemistry.

Simmons is all about getting you ready for your career. The classes are career focused and the professors really try and help you succeed. The professors definitely try and get to know you even in large lectures (and by large I mean 70 or so students). I am a nursing major and the nursing program is great. All of the professors are practicing nurses/ nurse practioners so they bring a lot of real life experiences into the classroom. We also have the highest NCLEX passing rate in the state. The professors really prepare us for our future. Clinical rotations are also great because we are starting in Boston hospitals and getting to learn a lot!

The academics are incredibly strong at Simmons. The relationships between professors and students are on a more personal level. The professors know their students and develop relationships with them throughout the semester. Professors work hard to help their students and also become a great resource for us, even after we have left their class. There are many resources for students to succeed in their academics, such as tutors, study rooms, the writing center, etc. I personally feel that my academic program is incredibly helpful in preparing me for a job after Simmons. The Communications program taught me necessary skills in the classroom, but also provided me with outside, real-world experience through Studio 5 and internships.
