What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I could go back in time I would tell myself that studies come first. Social life and Rutgers football games, have to come second to my studies. There will be plenty of time for me have fun later on in life. I would also tell myself that I will be paying about 25K a year so that I can attend, and that if I dont make the most of that money then I would be throwing it away. I would say, be active and join as many organizations as possible. Network with people because there are thousands of people that are graduating yearly from Rutgers and that I may never know when a contact I meet may be able to offer me a job further down the line.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
In light of the size of Rutgers University, the bureaucracy can be frustrating. You really have to work to get answers from administration, and often get different answers to the same question. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, because it encourages students to be proactive, resourceful, and independent-- skills that are definitely required for success in life after college!

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Rutgers' vice is also its virtue; the large amount of students creates a fantastic environment for those who want the classic college experience. The social activities one can attend are astounding, and can often leave students forgetting other reasons why they attended Rutgers. Potential friends can be found everywhere, from frat parties to crammed busses. The greek life on Rutgers is vast, and provides students every degree of frat life. Those who are not into greek life need not stress-the amount of activities are bound to have friends that suit your interests. Friends are your last problem at Rutgers.

What are the academics like at your school?
Most of my professors do not know my name which actually doesnt bother me. I know that they recognize me from participating a lot in class and thats all that i ask for. Academics are very competitive here. I just recently was admitted into the business school, and only 400 students are admitted per year out of the 40,000+ students that go here. Now everyone that didnt get in has to change their major and figure out what they want to do. also the pressure is on me for the next to years not to slip below a 3.4 gpa or else i get the boot. The education here is for getting a job, beacuse Rutgers offers so many programs to help get jobs and train you to get jobs, mock interviews, teaches us how to write resumes, how to approach employers at career fairs.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?
Personally, I dont know about the specific stereotypes about Rutgers students in general but I do here about the different stereotypical behaviors encountered on each individual campus. For instance, Douglass is said to have the most feminem qualities not just because it was once an all girl school but because the girls there seem to give off a persona which exemplifies arrogants and rather stand offish behavior, whereas college ave is said to be known as the drinking campus, Bush as the more scientific campus (for obvious reasons) and Livingston as the quiet campus (a stereotype that was recently broken with the new lift on the incoming student policy).
