Since I am in the Honors Program, the largest class allowed is about 15 students, which makes for great conversations and also a sense of community where everyone knows your name. Before my professor's walk in, we normally talk about the book that we are reading, or what we did over the weekend. Class participation is key, and most of the time part of your grade (not a huge part, but if you don't participate it will effect your grade). So far, the students that I have been in class with are not too competitive within the class, or if they are they don't show it. Instead we are encouraging towards each other and we are sort of like a team. The schools academic requirements are accurate and since I am a secondary education major, I have alot of work ahead of me. The school is geared toward both getting a job as well as getting an education, and this is evident in all the different majors. There are internships that students can apply for as well as off campus experiences (student teaching, nursing clinicals, etc) that can help the student to get a job outside of the school.

The class sizes are small, so the professors do know your name. There are some large classes, but not too many. There are also online and hybrid (50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} online) offered. There is also a general education honors program, which I am a part of. Those classes are made up of around 15 students. Besides the general education honors program, each major/department has their own honors program that consists of students doing a research project alongside a professor of their choice. There are many nice professors who want to help the students and offer office hours for students to visit. The library is very accommodating to a student's study time. They have extended hours during finals week, and a special silent floor all year round.

The academic life at RIC is very good. The class sizes are mostly all 25-30 students, so professors know you by name and there is personal attention gven to each student. The general education requirements also are not that strict, there is a lot of choice among different courses when it comes to that.
