Yeah. It's pretty great. I would argue that there is a lack of energy on the campus, but what can you expect from a community college, amiright? The food is actually really good and reasonably priced. The professors are usually super understanding, flexible, and available. Overall, my favorite community college.

Porterville College is a school filled with endless possibilities for everyone. Sadly, under extreme circumstances schools all around the world were forces to change their ways of schooling. Porterville College did an amazing job of moving from an on-campus to an online environment. To that, I admire and thank the staff for doing their best in helping the students out under these difficult times.

My overall opinion of Porterville College is that it is amazing. The professors are very flexible with hours and homework assignments. The food is very great and totally affordable. The campus offers great resources such as free tutors and free writing mentors. In addition, the campus offers free food drive throughs for students who are in need of food. The campus also offers an emergency food bank for all people in need not just students. Furthermore, the college offers great programs like EOPS/CARE/CALWORKS and these programs are very beneficial. These program’s help with lending books, meal cards, free cap and gown, book vouchers, mileage paid, grants, and even priority registration. Overall, the campus is great with helping a student be successful.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Looking back at my high school senior self I would first say not to be afraid of life. My senior year wasn?t that great for me because I was going through a tremendous amount of personal battles that I let control my life after high school. I didn?t choose to go to school right after and I blamed it on everyone else ; I was afraid of what new things life might bring me. I would tell myself that success is obtained by taking a chance on life. Second, I would have to say everything that you are learning now will benefit you in many ways that you wouldn?t know now. Notes in high school were tedious and now I know that all of that was just practice for future lectures. Doing your assignments and studying on time is the most important thing that you must practice now. Third, college is more expensive than you think. Start looking for a part time job now so your parents don?t have the burden of paying for everything. You may think that financial aid will cover it but that will only pay for a fraction of the costs.

  6. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst about Porterville College is the class sizes. Since the economy is so terrible the classes have become packed with people. The classes have a limit that they cannot go over and it?s very hard to get in a class you need because everyone is trying to get in the same one. It?s sad when people need that particular class and they get turned down just because the class size is at its capacity.
