When I began my college search, I had in my mind that I wanted a small, private, liberal arts university far from home. When I found Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and was accepted after early application, I stopped my search and thought it was the only place for me. What I didn't know was that I was letting my pride get in the way of my college search. My pride led me to Furman, not any other part of me. After transferring to The Ohio State University, I've found acceptance academically, socially, and emotionally. Although a big transition from Furman, Ohio State has proven to be the place for me. So far at Ohio State, I have had educational experiences that will undoubtedly help me with my future endeavor of law school. Socially, the diversity at Ohio State is what thrills me. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories: Ohio State definitely has enough students to keep me entertained. Emotionally, I'm surrounded by close friends that care for me but am living in a large city to which I can escape when I need alone time.

I have the great opportunity to attend one of the largest campuses in the nation, The Ohio State University. While the great number of students and the long walks a buckeye takes everyday may be daunting to some, I love every minute of it. There are so many different types of people I come across everyday that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet otherwise. I get to see so many different cultures and try to understand how they view the world. If I chose another college other than the Ohio State University, I don't think I would be so culturally immersed. Yes, many other colleges have many different cultures like Ohio State, but there is a feeling of unity that runs throughout all students here. There's no other feeling like it, knowing that there are so many students that feel the same way that I do about our connection to this wonderful school.

The thing I have learned the most out of my college experience is that connecting with people is one of the most rewarding aspects of life. Whethering you are connecting to people because of networking, school work, casual interests, or even cordial conversation, the values and perspects you take in stick with you for a lifetime. One example is one my roommates from the dorms my sophmore year in college. He was born and raised in Japan and coming here my roommates and I was able to learn aspects of Japanese culture and he was able to learn aspects American culture as well. Even to this deal we keep in contact with him despite the fact he is living back in Japan. Building relationships and friendships is the most valuable aspect of college I have experienced and learned.

From my college expirence I have rediscovered the joy and satisfaction of learning. College has helped me to develop a healthy social life, including the development of understanding emotional situations in my personal life. My interest in science has grown, with the chance I was given to work in a research lab and to present thses findings this summer at Indiana University-Purdue University. Leading to the oppurtunity to view all career options in hospitals and the chance for an internship. This has given me the confidence to take on a "leader" rule more often during class, plus the ability to do my best at work. With handling my schdule and doing my work properly I have even been asked to consider a Assitant Manger role at my job.

Out of my college experience I have gained knowledge in general education fields, learned many time management skills, how to work as a team, and have gained a better understanding of the engineering industry. It has been valuable for me to attend college because I have gained better insight pertaining to my future occupation. At first, I was in love with the guitar and had dreams to become a professional performer. After a few years I changed my major to Aerospace Engineering with hopes that this technical degree would aid me in the selection of becoming a Pilot for the Navy. Now I am attending the Ohio State University and pursuing my goal of becoming a Commercial Airline Pilot. If I had not attended college, I would have never realized that my true desire was to become a Commercial Airline Pilot. From my college experience, I have obtained the skills necessary to achieve my goal of becoming a Commercial Airline Pilot. With focus, hard work, determination, and time management skills, I have become closer to achieving my dreaml of Commercial Airline Pilot.

My college experience has exposed me to new modes of thinking and a wide variety of new opinions. The professors at OSU are extremely knowledgable, and most of them are published authors in their fields. Learning from the nation's leading scholars is not only exciting, but also very beneficial for one's personal development. I always knew that college was really my only option, but I'm so glad that I chose to come to Ohio State. Attending college is one of the most important decisions in life, and it is usually the correct decision (for most people). I cannot imagine not attending college--just think of all the things I wouldn't know, of all the amazing experiences I never would have had.

Throughout my life, I have been fortunate enough to have the support of my parents. My father has always told me that I didn't need to worry about the hardships of life, all I had to do was stay in school and get good grades. Entering college, I realized how sheltered I had been. Reality hit me hard when I realized how much I had depended on my parents for every piece of my life. As hard as I tried, being independent didn't come easy. There were so many other things to consider- like my future. College has been the time where I've learned that life isn't about finding yourself, or who you really are, it's about creating yourself. It's about creating the person you want to become in the world and fulfilling that dream. College has shown me how hard I need to work in order to accomplish the goals that I have and the person that I want to be in my life. It has shown me the sacrifices my parents have made to be successful and how much I want to do the same. To achieve for success.

My college experience was valuable because of the interest that I took in my own education. I majored in applied health and had the privilege of completing a clinical research course where I presented a cadaver dissection to the class. I also received several scholarships which motivated me to work even harder in my studies. One scholarship I received, the science scholar award from my school, made it possible to present a study on neuroscience to both Vancouver and San Diego. I am now pursuing studies in radiology and enjoying every moment of my academic journey. College is a tremendously valuable experience and I recommend it to anyone wanting to get in the game.

During my search for the quintessential college, I remember hearing so many people say that more than half of the things you learn in college are outside of the classroom. As annoying and confusing as that was to hear, I've found that they were all completely right. I remember hearing that " you really have to learn how to manage your time". In my experience, that's clearly translated to having to learn to juggle study time with working out with hanging out with friends with clubs, hobbies, community service, a job, etc. On top of all that, getting 8 hours of sleep in can be a huge challenge! As exhausting as it is, you realize somewhere along the line that life really is what you make it. Each day can be a struggle to squeeze as many activities into your schedule as possible for the sake of your resume, or you can just go out there and create experiences for yourself that make you smile when going to bed at night and excited to jump out of bed each morning. Ohio State offers so many experiences, it's impossible to regret having chosen it as the best for me.
