Tell us about the sports scene on campus.

Where to start..... OSU is historically one of the top athletic programs in the country. We've had our bumps for sure but over all its a strong program. We take our sports pretty seriously. Our football team is the pinnacle of the athletic program. Every saturday from the beginning of the season till christmas is a giant party. Everyone is dressed in scarlet and gray with buckeye necklaces. The games get crazy in student section. We pay for our tickets but its the best money I spend all year. The regular season (which is rarely the end of the season) ends with arguably the biggest game in college football, OSU vs Michigan. Its a rivalry with a lot of history and a lot of traditions around it. Students jump in a freezing cold lake, block out every M on the campus signs and sing "We don't give a damn for the whole state of michigan" every chance we get. As soon as football is over basketball starts and even if you don't get to go to the games you watch them on TV. Basketball is on the rise at OSU and with alumni like Jared Sullinger and Evan Turner you can understand why. We've even attracted Lebron and Dwayne Wade to a game or two. There are a lot of other sports and theres always a lot of pride at every game. However with over 40,000 students if you, for whatever reason, don't want to join that party, you don't certainly don't have to.

OSU's biggest sporting event to attend is home football games. A majority of students get tickets, and going to games is a huge part of the social scene during fall quarter. Basketball games are also a popular event to attend and to watch on TV with friends.

Sports are everywhere at Ohio State. You see the big football and basketball games but you don't see the club sports, intramurals, and groups of friends getting together to play all over campus. The RPAC is the hot spot for basketball. My friends go almost every day. The aquatics center is the most underrated thing on campus. Lifting and going right into the hot tub after was my routine for a full year at Ohio State. The hot tub was always empty. There are too many things at Ohio State and most people never get to see them all. Make sure the RPAC is one you investigate. There's not only basketball going on all the time there, but raquetball, volleyball, tennis, golf, you name it. Just outside is a big turf field where the band practices with soccer and lacrosse goals and big fields for playing anything. Oh and you can't forget about playing football shirtless at the "oval beach" during the springtime. Students flock to the Oval on nice days for frisbee, soccer, throwing the baseball, throwing the football, or even holding their own quidditch games for all you Harry Potter fans. I watched them practice one time on the brooms, it looked like a sport to me. There's a lot more going on than just football and basketball games.
