Northwestern students are portrayed most often being studious, awkward, and generally unattractive. There (of course) are people in all parts of Northwestern that conform to these stereotypes, but Northwestern students are also the ones observing these, so most people are actually not.

A stereotypical Northwestern student will have a North Face fleece and will generally wear his or her parents' money on their sleeves at all times. This kid will talk a lot of game about skipping classes and being for the most part a rebel, but will probably be lying. Additionally, this kid will mock Northwestern's Asian students, presuming that they are all engineers who hole themselves up in their single-bed dormrooms instead of going out to the fantastic frat parties they probably wouldn't be allowed into anyway.
Madeline
That we are nerdy and rich.
Phartz
A lot of Northwestern students are the high school kids that weren't the smartest, but worked really hard, studied a lot, and got good grades. These kids were also pretty lame. Then, they get to Northwestern, and in the power vacuum of lame-ness, some seem to believe that they are cool. These kids go on to join fraternities and haze underclassmen in the future. Because they're cool.

Conservative, rich, not as intellectual as other ivy's
Corinne
Northwestern students study too much, they don't go out, they're nerdy.
Libby
I think a common stereotype about Northwestern students is that we are all highly motivated overachievers who did everything possible in high school.
Aaron
I believe that the average student here views the population as rather homogeneous, centering around white/upper-middle class. However, I did not have that perception coming into the school. Nevertheless, there is a very perceptive cultural divide on campus, most likely stemming from the ascendancy of the Greek system, which tends to maintain preexisting cultural barriers by its very nature.
With that being said, we are also very intelligent, and for the most part, driven individuals that strive for success in all we do.
A stereotype that I believe is inaccurate, is that we do not like to have fun.
Peter
The common one is a combinations of a nerd, workaholic, perfectionist who spends too much time doing homework
Jesse
Northface wearing, ugg stepping, longchamp clutching spoiled rich kids. Not smart or unique enough to get into an ivy, but still intellectually snobby enough to look down on anyone at a state school or...god forbid...community college.
