Speaking as a member of the LGBT community, Northeastern is exceptionally accepting. Any student could really find his/her niche at NU. Being in a city, fashion tends to play a large role at Northeastern with an ever-growing significant "hipster" population rivaling the mobs of typical students from the Northeast. Different types of students definitely interact, but are also able to come together within their comfortable classification. Of all states, most NU students are from Mass. (I am myself). and come from middle to upper class families, but there are a significant number of students here on scholarships. Students are politically aware in terms of our nation, but not so much in terms of campus politics. The conservative community is pretty small on campus and most students do tend to be left-winged.
