Northeast Community College Top Questions

What should every freshman at Northeast Community College know before they start?

Sarah

Use the resources this college offers you. Especially the people. The teachers, the college faculty, and especially your guidance counselor, want you to succeed. They know a whole lot more about this than you do, and they are willing to share their expertise with you. All you have to do is ask. You will have a much smoother ride if you ask the faculty questions. That's what they're there for: to help you. In class, don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't understand something. Again, the teachers want to help you. If you don't understand something, they'll make sure they find a way to help you to get it. If you have to miss a day, don't stress. Talk to your teachers beforehand, and they'll help you work out a plan to get the notes and make up any missed work. They'll help you, but only if you let them know you need it. Take the initiative and ask. Above all, use your guidance counselor. He/she can help you find the classes and teachers that will be best for you. Don't hold back from asking for help.

I would tell myself to work really hard towards my goals and dreams. Also, I would tell myself to make time for both school and friends.

Brittney

I would tell myself not to be so scared about going to college and leaving my friends and family behind because it's so easy to make new friends and no matter what my family will always be behind me with every decision I make. With the friends situation, if we were true friends then we'll still be friends when we meet up again on breaks. College isn't a bad word, it's actually pretty fun.
