What should every freshman at North Carolina A & T State University know before they start?

Through my college experience I have learned to become patient, understanding, more open-minded, and independent. Being that I had to relocate for school, attending college has been valuable because I have gained a greater appreciation for my parents and family, and I have also gained a better understanding of what it means to be an adult. If it were not for me attending NC A&T State University, I would not know what Aggie Pride was nor would I appreciate the life that HBCUs have to offer. Attending an HBCU has been valuable because it has instilled in me even greater pride to be a college student.

So far I have gained the experience of learning what college is all about. That this is not like high school and there are certain things that you cannot handle the same way as you may be use to such as last-minute studying, procrastination on homework or doing projects at the last minute. I have gained valuable knowledge that I feel will help me to obtain employment with companies in the years to come and that I will be able to pass on to my younger brother and children when they begin their college careers. I hope and plan that I will be able to give back to my school, community, and my family, the ones who helped me the most with this knowledge and experience that I have recieved from North Carolina A&T State University.

My college experience has definitely had its ups and downs. I spent three years on the varsity tennis team, but will still graduate in four years (thanks goodness for AP classes!). I believe that every college student should have the opportunity to experience the depth of school spirit demonstrated at A&T. Aggie Pride is truly nationwide, and I realized how fortunate I am to attend this university when I was in Hawaii a few years ago; we had lunch in a soul food restaurant that turned out to be Aggie owned. I joined a sorority, my grades remainded high despite the demanding athletic schedule, and I participate in a variety of extracurricular and volunteer activities. I believe that North Carolina A&T has made me a better person. I can definitely say that I made the right decision, and I would definitely make it again. I know that I will come back every year for "The Greatest Homecoming on Earth," and I am thankful for the opportunity to attend A&T. AGGIE PRIDE!

I have learned the value of an education and my own mental capacity. My college experience is not one that is glorious or that I would share with the world because I too made bad decisions, however I learned that the best lesson is one where I made a decision standing on my own two feet without the permission of anyone and fell on my own and learned to survive without somone tending to my wounds. Real growth, and that is something I do not reget!

After attending college for two years, I have learned that people think in many different and interesting ways. From a change of your high school friends and being around those who you grow up with, you quickly learn how to be accepting of other views that the other students around you have. Not only are you educated about your major but also most importantly, you learn how to interact with others. Social interaction with others I believe will take your career further than just your education will get you. Despite my difficulties that I have had at my University, I truly value what I have learned by attending, such as how to interact with other in an effective way so that all can understand, and most of all I have learned to work with others that may not work as I do.

College has been one of the most valuable life learning experiences for me. It has given me the opportunity to become an independent person helping me strive to reach my goal of becoming an elementary education teacher. Through academics, I have filled my experiences in engaging classrooms, hands on clinicals, and with collaborative professors and classmates. Through student life, I have filled my experiences with volunteering on campus, having a campus job, participating in a sorority, and having wonderful times with friends at campus sports events and fundraisers. I now know who I am today through these college experiences to succeed in life. I can take all of these valuable experiences to apply myself in the real world, and become an engaging, motivative, and caring elementary education teacher. Through my college career, I have earned my degree, learned how to work well with others, given back to the community, and made life-long friendships that I will cherish forever. My college experience is extremely valuable to me and it will only affect me positively for the rest of my life.

So far my experience has been a learning one. You must apply yourself to everything you do. They show you that you can make a difference if you just believe in yourself

What I have gotten out of school is that working hard is important, but friendship is apart of the foundation of success. When you go to college, they teach you how to think and not what to think. Knowing how to pick good friends who will give you good advice when needed and vice versa is important. That?s something no book or professor can prepare you for. During the tough times, the character of the people near you is revealed and the people who stay in the darkest times are you?re real friends. The reason having friends is important is because being in college is a new environment and it gives you a chance to meet new people. This inspires you to do better because you have people cheering for you at school and at home.

What I've gotten out of college is the sense of the real world. College serves as the perfect transition into the real world. For the first time in my life I was on my own, expect for finicial purposes. I had to learn how to be independent and make life choices for myself. Also, i had to condition myself because there was no one making sure i went to class, studied, and completed homework. In highschool, everything was monitored, If I slacked there was always someone to put me back in place, however in college it's solely up to me to make sure I make the most responisible choices. College marks the beginning of the rest of my life, so it's important to work hard now in order to be able to make the best life possible.

Going to A&T where the aggie pride is live and strong .Being a student on this campus was a life changing experience because it made me feel proud to go to an HBCU and become a strong black woman with great role models. They made the path and now i have to follow it and do the same for the new aggies to come . Everyone has to have a stroong foundation and beging a aggie you will have the foundation you need for the rest of your life. Aggie born, Aggie bred , when i die i will be aggie dead. This a school filled of love and students who are leading the legeacy .
