New College of Florida Top Questions

This school is, as previously mentioned, very liberal and open-minded. Conservatives of any kind beware. One of the drawbacks of the school is that, for all its cultural and ethnic diversity, there is very,very little social/political diversity.

Students intolerant of anything that could be considered "alternative" lifestyles - queers, drug users, hippies, hipsters, non-showerers, vegan, freegans are abundant. Overly quiet people. Students who are not willing to engage themselves academically. Students who do not buy into New College's message of academic and personal freedom.

Students able and willing to do a great deal of in depth work and outside research for their courses.

A conservative Christian or Catholic with strong Republican views that are conservative and against drug use.

A conservative right wing carnivore would probably feel a little out of place. The party scene takes a little getting used to, I was pretty depressed about how much drinking, smoking, and pot smoking went on, and the loud music friday and saturday nights on campus. But its probably not that different from any other school, just more visible, since we won't get in trouble for anything.
