I think Muskegon Community College is a very welcoming, interactive, helping school. The faculty are very nice, welcoming, and helpful with everything you may need. The campus building are very well cleaned and have provided me with everything I may need better my education. The three years I have been here I have felt nothing but love from the surrounding people here. I would recommend Muskegon Community College to anyone who asks, as well as promote them. Thank you.

I personally loved going to Muskegon Community College. I enjoyed my theatre and english professors a lot. However, I feel like the counseling center is lacking, immensely. I found out I was in the wrong degree year during the semester I was supposed to graduate. This extended my stay at MCC. I was very disappointed in the lack of compassion and help from one counselor in particular.

Throughout the past two years at Muskegon Community College, I have had quite a unique experience compared to other students. I started in the Early College program when I was a Junior in high school. This was a big adjustment for me especially starting at a new school at only 16 years old and not knowing anyone. However, MCC made it a super easy and smooth adjustment for me. They provided a two-day orientation for all of the early college students which was vital to my success throughout the program. Not only was MCC there for me to show me the ropes on the first day, but the faculty and students are also there every day to help you out however they can. This is the type of dependability and leadership that MCC strives for and I am so glad I get to be apart of it!

Muskegon community college is a great school academically, I've had some of the most amazing teachers and I've only been here for a semester so far. But they lack trying to create a school community by bringing kids together, their main focus is sports and only sports. Although I personally love the school its not in the best area in Muskegon and there are not many activities for kids to participate in on and off-campus.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

if i were able to travel back into time, i would tell myself to maintain my sense of getting it done now. there is a bad habit that one may pick up when going to college and that is procrastinating. procrastination has been the biggest obstacle while going to college. unless there is a well managed student i've seen even the most organized student procrastinate and turn in late work. if i were able to brush off procrastinating, i would have all A's in college, but because my reinforcment with procrastinating my homework, it comes immediately, and the reinforcement of getting my homework done in order to recieve a great grade in the class room comes later. although the reinforcement comes, it doesn't come quick enough. therefore, if i were able to go back in time, i would tell myself to stop procrastinating and get what i need to get done, done.

  4. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

the credits will transfer to almost every other college in the u.s. unlike baker college whose credits may only transfer to ferris state university. the campus is beautiful, the staff is nice, the teachers are fair, and there are many places to study, and something else uniquely interesting, because the college was built on a river, the floors of the college are numbered backwards. its fun stuff.

  7. What's unique about your campus?

it is very affordable...and very easy to maintain enough money using pell grants in order to cover the educations of so many students. the classes are prepared well, and most of the teacher's seem to care about their career and not the money it provides...most of teachers also work in other departments as well...and other schools which provide them with information that we may not know from other students in other schools..which is always fun.

  8. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I would not recommend MCC to those students who are seaking any kind of atheletics. It does not seem to me that there is a "following" for any of the teams that are sponsored by the school. I have yet to hear or see anything re: school sports or schedules...I think that it is a disadvantage to those students who wish to participate.

  13. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that college is not like High School. College expects more out of you and try to teach you different styles of how to do the work. Also wish I knew that you had to put more time into your homework and that it takes alot of work. College takes alot of your time just to sit in class lectures and then time to do alll the homework you are assigned.

  15. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Muskegon is a small town that has very little to offer in the way of entertainment. It is also a city built on a manufacturing history, primarily in the automotive industry, which is all but none existance in this day and age. This has a negative impact on students that must work to survive, the unemployment rate for the city of Muskegon is the highest in the country at over 15.5{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}. MCC is a two year school, most students when asked, including myself, would like to see it upgraded to a four year program.
