There is the obvious stereotype that everyone that goes to Mt. Holyoke is a lesbian and even if you don't like girls when you come here, by the time you graduate you'll probably have chopped off all of your hair and become some butch lesbian.

according to what i've heard, mt holyoke students are considered outspoken, cordial and thoughtful but i don't classify them as stereotypes. i am really not sure. what i've also heard that almost 2/3 of the population here is gay.

Lydia

There's a stereotype about how gay/straight our student population is. I honestly don't have any idea was the actual percentages are, but I also don't really care. There's also a stereotype that we work hard all the time, but I think we also play really hard. The hardest part about being able to play hard is that most of the time we have to go off campus because our campus has been tightening its policies on partying recently.

Kendall

I saw a Simpsons show that describes a typical MHC student as one who is drunk and parties all the time. I have also heard of us being very smart and hard working, mainly from people around the area or alums that really know about MHC.

Chris

Stereotypes? I think people feel that Mount Holyoke students are smart, overworked, stressed out, oblivious, and unaware of what goes on in the world, but that we try to solve everything. In the five college area, I think we're supposed to be the pretty ones. I've heard someone say that we're just a bunch of girls trying to find husbands.

Charlie
