What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
In the beginning, college was not for me. I just wasn’t ready, so I gave up. A few years later, I decided to try again. It has been the best decision of my life! I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2008. Now I am back in school for a Nursing degree. I aspire to be a psychiatric nurse. College has helped me to grow up. Looking back, I see that the time I spent in college has helped me acquire skills and knowledge that I would have never had otherwise. I have made networking connections with professors and fellow students that have helped me to attain my goals in life. Without college, I would not be the person who I am today.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I consider the lack of variety of courses to be the worst thing about Mills College. It is a small school, but I believe that with the cost of attendance, students should have a wider variety of courses to choose from. For example, I would like to take a course in zoology or some sort of animal science, however, there is no option to do that. If Mills College would add more specific courses to their curriculum, I think it would improve students' learning experience.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Because my school is so small, the campus is essentially closed on the weekends--most people either leave to the surrounding cities, or stay inside. There are usually no activities provided, except for the occasional dance, and so often no one is around.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Living at Mills has many great benefits, like single dorms and conscientious dining options. But my favorite thing about Mills is the professor-student relationship that is central to the exerience here. My professors all know my name, hand write feedback on my work, and are happy to talk to me after class. Introductory Government glass size? Less than ten students. Nothing beats that kind of individual attention.

What's unique about your campus?
I consider the the diversity and openness to be the best thing about Mills College. The Mills community is very accepting of every type of person you can imagine. It doesn't matter what race you are, or what gender you identify with, or what religion you practice - there is a place for you at Mills. My school prizes the students who dare to be different and outspoken, and I think that is something unique, and to be cherished in a college.

What are the academics like at your school?
Mills College is a small community, where the biggest class over here (Fundamental Psychology) only has about 80 students. So the professors definitely know your name! They will not only know your name, they will actually discuss with you. (It's really hard to skip class here in Mills, believe me!) Also since it's a small college, professors are really close to students and they are easily to reach. Except their office hours, you can always make appointments with them. You will find yourself always busy and engaged. Mills women are famous for our intelligence, we are always prepared to learn and explore new things. Our school is relatively strict in grading, however, this pushes students and helps them to develop good study habits. You will learn things here not only for your future job, but also for your own personal life. We are doing all we can to be the best women!

What is your overall opinion of this school?
Our classes are tiny that sometimes the professor can take us out to cool feildtrips (e.g. SF museums) and we don't have to pay for them. This is not a college town at all, some people party in UCB or other areas in the Bay Area like S.F. Only chiks can apply to school here, but it's a co-ed graduate school and we also have a program called EF, so you'll see lots of international students and that program is co-ed. You can make lots of great international friends there and even have an EF language buddy. Furthermore, people don't really like the Founder's food because it can be disgusting, but there's also a café and a grill area where the food is 100 times better so you can get a meal plan with points for that. However, the campus is really safe and pretty and you'll most likely get a spacious room for yourself if you're smart about choosing. There aren't terrible dorm rules and some people even have parties in the dorms, you can just get it approved. We have a safety system that the security can escort you to your dorm at night if you don't want to walk or bump into raccoons. There used to be secret forest parties with the EF students, but now they're more strict and there's no more because maybe of fire hazards since some people would smoke there. There's an awesome swimming pool and jacuzzi for all students and alums. Sorry, but it's not a party school, so if you want parties there are ways, but you have to be outgoing to find people. For instance, there's a group of students who will go clubbing every week-end. We're a very diverse community and a very liberal and open minded college. For more info talk to admissions, they'll be happy and sign up for the CYCLONES overnight hosting options! Cause we like to move our bodies like a CYCLONE! haha College is awesome and everybody should go!

Nope, heck no! Not all of us are lesbians. Just because it's a women's college doesn't mean we aren't straight. There are a lot of straight people here as well.
