Being a Spartan is the best. Most people who attend MSU bleed green, and have tremendous school pride. Even the old guy at the Hall of Fame (spartan themed sports bar) shouts at the tv in the NCAA basketball tourney as he boasts his leather MSU jacket. There's nothing quite like athletics at a Big Ten school. Very exciting! Our Sparty mascot is also second to none. He can definitely get a crowd on their feet! The campus itself is gorgeous, one of the reasons I chose MSU. It's sometimes a pain in the butt having to bust across campus running in the 20 minutes you have in between classes just to make it on time, but otherwise, the campus is perfect. Although it's a huge school, I find it just the right size! GO STATE!

Huge, I wouldn't change it per say, but if you come here than you are for sure going to make friends, once you get into your direct major the classes are smaller but even the campus and venues around it are hoppin all the time. Michigan State is known all around the world. I used to live in the Carolina's and even when I worked with Red Cross in Louisiana people were familiar with MSU and some had even graduated. I work in a bar and restaurant so I am always there, we have a night club in our basement so its right close to the main strip of our 'hang out' street, grand river. For sure a college town I sometimes feel bad for the residential families during events like welcome week, but they chose to live in a college town. So much school pride. Cant really think of a recent controversy. This school is amazing, l can honestly say that I would pay to go here before I took a full ride anywhere else.

There are quite a few things good and bad about Michigan State. For one, when i tell people that i go there they give me a look like "oh, so you like to party a lot", or they assume that i am an experienced drinker. A good thing about Michigan State is that it is a big research university, and i do feel good about being a part of that. I am a Zoology major, and i like being a part of such a good Zoology program. Academically, i really like michigan state. Although, the grading system is a little screwy. You can only get a final grade in 0.5 increments, so if you are two points below getting a 4.0 you get a 3.5 rather than a 3.9, and that has really given me a lot of trouble. It is a really big university, and a lot is done to try to make students feel like they are a part of it, but i really feel like I am not important to the university when i am there. Everything feels superficial to me.

MSU is a great college. I am very happy that I chose to get my degrees from MSU. I am very involed at MSU and that is why I have been successful. Although sometimes you can feel like just a number (because there are currently over 45,000 students) the groups one can form within work, or academics is really unbelievable. If you are looking for a place to take advantage of your education, meet great people, and find a group or two that fits you perfect, then MSU could be right for you.

MSU is a place where everyone can fit in, because of how diverse it is. It's a great place to find yourself!

This is a BIG school, I am from a small city and my family was not sure how I'd like it. I loved it! It was easy to fit in and make friends. Downtown East Lansing is very accessible and there are a lot of fun places to go eat and watch the game or go shopping. The campus is beautiful all year round, great for playing frisbee or going for a run. I highly reccommend football season tickets, those first games make great memories. I am proud to say I attended MSU.

Best thing about MSU - Beautiful campus, with lots of gardens, trees, and fountains.
One thing to change - On-campus housing is way too expensive for what it's worth.
Size of school - About right, but a little on the large side.
How people react - "That's a really well-respected school" or "That's a really big school!"
Spend most time - Studying in my room or going on walks
College town - East Lansing would not exist without MSU. Bars, restaurants, shops galore.
Opinion on administration - Waste money on useless programs, raise tuition to cover costs.
Controversy - Cedarfest riots in April. Over 1000 students rioted and got on the nat'l news.
Pride - Unbelievable school pride. Football and basketball are more important than life itself.
Unusual - MSU was the first land-grant college fully funded by the government to start up.
Experience - Cedarfest riots were right outside my dorm. I watched people get teargassed.
Complaints - Housing too expensive, busses too expensive, price-gouging at the bookstore.

The best thing about MSU is the social aspect. I have met some of the best people ever going to MSU and there is always something to do whether its just taking a walk down Grand River or hanging out with your friends in the dorms. I love that the school is big. If you don't want to see someone you really don't have to. I hear about people going to really small schools where everyone knows everyones business. I'm glad that i don't go to a school like that. I think East Lansing is a really good college town there are a ton of great places to eat and things to do around town. It's a really good atmosphere for a university. The biggest controversy is probably Ceder Fest which was the party that turned into a riot and ended with tear gas. It was a little annoying after it was still a front page story in the State News over 2 weeks after it had happend. MSU probably has the best school pride ever. No matter where you go if someone shouts "GO GREEN" chances are someone will respond back with "GO WHITE" I wouldn't want to go anywhere else but MSU. It has become not just a school over the past 2 years I've gone there but it is definitely my home.

The campus is beautiful. This was one of my pros for this school. I love how green it is and even in the winter the snow makes it even better. The big picture is that Michigan State has anything and everything you will ever need and you will be truly amazed at how wonderful this experience will be for you.

The best thing about MSU is the huge, BEAUTIFUL campus. With over 40,000 students, I think that MSU could definitely be too large of a school for some people, but I love it. When I tell anyone I go to MSU, they know the school. I love that- everyone knows that we are the Spartans, that we're located in East Lansing, etc. There are tons of places to study, hang out, lots of school sponsored activities. It's definitely a college town- the City of East Lansing's population is smaller than our student body. There's always something to do in E.L., and our state's capital is right down the road in Lansing. There is a HUGE amount of school pride. When I travel to other cities/states/even COUNTRIES, people will comment if I'm wearing MSU clothing and say "go green".
