Mayville State is a very small liberal arts school in Mayville North Dakota. I really enjoy it because of the small class sizes and the fact that everyone knows everyone and it brings a great sense of community to the classroom that big universities don't have.

I would like to do on-line classes there.

Mayville State University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Mayville State University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Mayville State University is 55%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself that going to class matters because about half of what the teacher says in class ends up on the test, to be brave and ask the teacher for help if you don't understand something, and to ask the tutors to meet up and have a session. That's what they are there for! I would let myself know that money is going to be scarce, that you need to find cheap and affordable fun, and to get a job as soon as you get there. I would tell myself that mom and dad will be just fine without you; That this is YOUR time to move on and figure things out for yourself. Yes, you're going to get knocked down. Stand back up and keep walking because things have to get harder before they get better. And lastly, I would tell my senior self that this is it. This is the start of an entirely new beginning. Strap on your helmet and let's get rockin'!

  4. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

I like the high quality of education balanced with the smaller classes. I like being able to get a lot of one-on-one and hands-on work, not just sit in a big lecture hall full of a hundred people, being a no-name for a teacher who would never recognize if I came or stayed home napping that day. Smaller is better in my opinion. Lots more teachers per student.

  6. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst part about Mayville State is its location. I grew up in small town North Dakota so being here doesn't bother me but to many of the students coming from a warmer climate and bigger cities have a hard time adjusting to the small town lifestyle. There isn't much to do in Mayville and we are about 40 miles away from the nearest city so students without a car are pretty stuck.

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

I am attending Mayville State University online, so to me the most frustrating this is probably the fact that I do not receive scholarships to help me pay for school. Distance and online learning cannot receive scholarships through the school for the program, so I was unprepared for my summer classes. According to my FASA, it says my family will pay so much for school, but I am paying for it alone. So having scholarships is very helpful. Other than that it is an excellent program!

I just wish that I would have been able to take a recruiting trip. I believe that everyone should go on a trip to take a look at the school, see its structures, and meet some of the students, teachers, and administration.
