Describe the students at Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College.

Every type of person from every walk of life attends LSU. Don't know anyone? Trust me, you'll find your niche. It's hard to be on the outs at this school. Louisiana is known for its hospitality, friendly attitude and natural southern charm. LSU is no different- we exude inclusiveness. To class, you can pretty much wear whatever you want. Sweatpants, t-shirts, cute tops, jeans, shorts, whatever. Don't dress up too much, though, or you might feel a bit out of place within the lazy college kids. And don't dress too down, or you might end up on Tiger Weekly's worst dressed list. If you do, don't worry too much-- they blur out your face. The Greek kids are the only ones that really show off their money. Northface backpacks and jackets, pearls, boat shoes.. Greeks are so cookie cutter here you can tell who they are right away.

When it comes to LSU's student body, the one word that comes to mind is "diversity". I have to admit, the greek life on campus is prominent, but not limited to only that. There are all the usual types of students; anything from race to style can set students apart from one another. The typical clothing seen on campus is casual: North Face fleece, jeans, Sperrys. A lot of LSU students are from cities around Louisiana, but there are also a lot from Texas and Mississippi.

i hate them nobody pj's yes sometimes, in class, or when required i don't do the dining hall new orleans/ baton rouge/ texas/ mandeville upper middle class i guess a lot of them are left, i think not that i've ever heard

I really havent had any racial/religious/LGBT/socio-economic experiences. Probably someone from Iraq or of that racial background because we dont have too many of that race at LSUE. Most students wear just a casual Tshirt and jeans to class and some get a little more dressed up. Yes, people who werent friends in high school are even socializing at LSUE. The four tables would have to be the people who went to high school together, the really smart people, the people who are kind of outcasts, and the normal people. Most LSU students are from the Eunice or about 20 minutes radius. Average income is most prominent. Most students are aware polically. No most studnets dont talk about their incomes.

Jody

Just like every other community of people you have all types of diversity. For the most part everybody gets along and interacts with each other. Students are definately politically aware. Most are right wing but there are some left wing extremist. And students definately talk about making tons of money when the get out of LSU.

Blake

There is a lot of underlng racism at LSU that i thik is more traditonal than rational. Any student could feel at home at LSU. All finacial backgrounds are prevalent due to thr TOPS program. Students are very politcally aware and active. Predominantly right with a minority of extreme left.

Whitney

The student body at LSU is open to many different types of people. We have students from all races and religious backgrounds. Since this is the south their is a pretty small population of LGBT but the community is friendly to everyone. Student typically go to class very casual:jeans, shorts and tshirts. Most days I can get dressed for class in less then 10 min. Most of LSU students are from the state of Louisiana because of a government funded payment called TOPS. Students from Lousisana with TOPS get their tuition to any Lousisana college payed for by the state. This is a huge incentive for these students to go to LSU. The students that I have contact with at LSU are usually conservative and want people to know it. Students are very politically involved on campus because of the elections that are coming up this year. People stand out in free speech ally and handout fliers about their views. This is a very interesting time to be a student because so many different political views are coming out on campus.

Lance

Due to having a prominent Black college in Baton Rouge (Southern University), LSU is mainly White. Student's dress very casual. T-shirts and Polo shirts are most common. The vast majority of students are from Louisiana. Politically aware: yes, active: slightly. From the political talk I have heard, LSU is conservative.

KAY

I FEEL THAT LSU IS DIVIDED RACIALLY, ESPECIALLY WITH BLACK AND WHITES. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS WOULD FEEL OUT OF PLACE AT LSU. SOMETIMES BLACK, WHITE, AND OTHER RACES AT LSU INTERACT TOGETHER, BUT IT IS NOT FREQUENT. THE STUDENTS AT THE TABLES IN THE DINING HALL WOULD BE BLACK, WHITE, ABRAB, OR ANOTHER RACE. MOST LSU STUDENTS ARE FROM LOUISIANA. MOST STUDENTS AT LSU HAVE TOPS OR THEIR PARENTS MAKE ALOT OF MONEY. YES, STUDENTS ARE POLITICALLY AWARE AND ACTIVE AT LSU. THE STUDENTS ARE CENTERED. YES, STUDENTS TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY THEY WANT TO WHEN HE OR SHE GRADUATES.

I am good friends with some of the members of the LGBT, religious, and racial organizations on campus. As for what students feel out of place, I can not group them because I have noticed that no matter what group, social class, or race you are, there is always someone that may feel out of place. Most students wear normal cloths, granted some may dress nicer than others or dress in their PJ's. I feel that many different types of students interact on a daily basis. I don't quite understand the four tables thing, but I can say that it is a motley crew of people from all walks of life sitting together in the dinning hall. Most LSU students are from in state. I think the middle class background is what is most prevalent on campus. There is a lot of politically active students on campus, even clubs for both political parties are on campus. I think there is almost an even split of political sides here at LSU.
