I would have told myself to plan better. I would have gone to the campus and talked with professors and got a feel for what was expected. I would have asked more questions about work loads and how to balance everything. I also would have been smarter with my financial aid. I wouldn"t have taken out so many student loans. I would have learned to budget my money and time.

I never thought at age 54 and with physical challenges, I could ever go to college. Six years ago, my life changed forever. As I laid in a hospital bed literally on the brink of death from a spinal cord; injury; homeless, broken, I felt I had no hope. When I was at my lowest point, someone special who was a friend and nurse came into my life and refused to let me die. Rehabilitation became a struggle for me at times, when I started to feel sorry for myself; I would say “QUITTING” is not an option! After much rehabilitation I later was encouraged by someone I knew to go to college. I never thought I was good enough for college, but after all the obstacles I have overcome, I have realized how precious life really is and do not want to take one more day for granted. If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, knowing what I know now, my best advice for college is to never give up on my dreams. With a great education , hard work and determination I can have a bright future.
Sincerely

I would tell myself to take a break and understand that college is not for everyone. I would tell myself to relax and experience life on my own before I make lasting decisions. I would reassure myself that i will be ok, that one day I will graduate from Kent State with a degree in nursing, but it is imperative that I take my prerequisites seriously. I would encourage myself not to start college untill I was mature enough to understand that what I do here, will determine my success in life. And lastly, remind myself to thank God every day for all of my blessings because he is why I have made it this far.

I would tell myself that I should have worked harder to get a better paying job, do better on my ACT, retake it, and work harder for scholarships. I regret my laziness and that made me unable to get into the school of my choice. If I could, I would redo my entire senior year over again and the entire college search process.

School should always come first, before anything! Getting your education is so important and expensive and you just need to get in get your education, have fun, then get out! Always try and apply for as many scholarships as you can to help you with your expenses because there are so many more than just tuition and books! Most of all embrace what is ahead of you and always stive to do the best you can do!

Becoming a college student is a mature decision that requires much thought. There are many questions you will ask yourself once you have applied, like what classes will you take, if you will be a full-time student, what your major will be. The one decision that does not require any thought is the simple decision to go to college. Education is the most important aspect of ones life. College students work hard to make a difference in the community and to thier selves. Students want to succeed by graduating college, getting a great job, making enough money to support themselves and thier families and also to be an upstanding citizen of the community. Making the choice to go to college is the best choice anyone can make if you are willing to work hard, study, and put your everything into building a career for the rest of your life. College campuses offer so much to each student; idvidual tutoring, advisors to help you every step of the way, and financial aid for those who need it. Why wait ? Apply now so you can start the rest of your life.

My college experience has been great! I am nineteen years old and I’m a sophomore at Kent State University East Liverpool. Since I have a campus in my hometown it is very convenient for me. The cost is cheaper than going away to college. My campus is very small and they have small classes. I feel that I am really receiving a great education because of my smaller classes. I have always been an average student, but I do usually need to work hard to excel. I have chosen teaching as my profession in the future. I am majoring in early childhood education. Someday, I’d like to own my own pre-school or daycare. As of right now, I am currently a full- time student, work part-time at a cyber school, Buckeye Online School for Success and I am also a coach for East Liverpool's Eighth Grade Volleyball Team and Junior Varsity Basketball Team. I am very thankful for Kent State East Liverpool because I have been able to work, coach and have fun while still going to school. They have been so helpful to me in many ways.

I find education to be the most important aspect of oneself. My college experience has helped expand my intelligence and further me to become a strong, independent thinker. I value my education and strive to learn as much as I possibly can within my major. This characteristic of mine can greatly influence those who are undecided as to the future of their education. I see education as a map to success. Without the map, you're lost.

What I have gotten out of my college experience thus far is quite literally everything. I have hit the highest highs and the lowest lows. That is what college is all about. I have learned all kinds of new valuable information that will not only help me in college and in my career, but also in real life. College has also been so valuable to attend because without it a great future seems very distant. But with a college degree in hand, nothing in the world seems unreachable. College has just become one of the most important times of a young persons life. And to me this experience has been priceless, and worth every second.
