Kaplan University-Hagerstown Campus Top Questions

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Michel

Kaplan's student life program is growing.. While attending my first year, I had already received an invitation to join the American Criminal Justice Association, after that I have attained memberships through Alpha Phi Sigma and the National Society of Colliegate Scholars. Each one has their own activities and events, the only problem that I have with it, is everyone is spread out accross the US. It would be nice to be able to get together to do some community service projects with other members. I just recently was nominated through the National Society of Collegiate Scholars to participate in an international program during the summer of 2012, as I was saying each program has their own benefits and I am proud to be a member of each. Kaplan is really working hard on their student life program to enhance each students experience..

Starting answering! Here at Kaplan we have numerous group as well as various Honors Society. Furthermore, in dealing with learning we have labs such as the Math labs and Science Lab. A few other outstanding benefits include our Writing Center as well as our Library. We even a website where we can discounts on computer supplies as well as other supplies one may need for school. We have contest for students to win things. Overall, we are not a party school however if one wants to have a beer while being in a seminar I suppose it would be perfectly legal. However, in saying that I do not believe Kaplan supports drinking while doing schoolwork. Furthermore, it is illegal for minors. Nevertheless, if one does party on their time as long as no laws are broke then all is okay. We certainly want individuals to enjoy their self, However Kaplan has many activities where drinking is not a part of that I think many would enjoy.

A lot of people that attend Kaplan are in either a group or honor society. With me I am in Ambassadors and Leaders Group where I pledge to help my fellow student and others in need. With Ambassadors and Leaders I also have a pen pal in third grade that I mentor and do my part to teach him about literacy. I am also a part of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. They help me out with great information for scholarships and are a great support system. And last but not least I will be joining the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor society.

I am a member of the OWLS club. It is one of the best clubs in the world, We write to soldiers. We write emails to children that send letters to santa. We offer support groups and we hold contests and we are really more of a family than a club.

I am involved with the National Collegiate Scholars Society (NCSS) and I love the opportunities that are there as a member that can help you excel. I have befriended some of my class mates and I am proud to say that we still talk to this day months after our last class together.

I am not sure about this question. I have just recently joined NSCS and trying to get the hang of it. So far it is a great group and therre are many people in this organization. The group president for Kaplan has been great and so have the counselors. I have recieved many different letters from organizations at Kaplan, I just haven't had the time to do to much with others. Kaplan does offer a variety of helpful organizations though.

Honestly I do not know because I am too busy with my own schedule to look and see what is the most popular group or activity. We are in college and popularity is not an issue.

Stephanie

There are activities and groups but you must keep in mind that Kaplan University in an online school therefore, these groups are online as well.

Carinn

Since we are taking online courses, students engage in normal activities. I have made an effort to be involved in a few honor societies, but most of my activities revolve around my family and work. This is one area where students could feel like they are missing out. But for me I experienced this during my under graduate. The great thing about attending a school from anywhere, is that you don't feel obligated to participate in activities that could hinder your academic performance.
