Most students, between 80-90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} are White Americans. About 10-15{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} are African American. The rest are East Asian study abroad students. There is an equal mix between politically conservative and liberal students. However, I always get e-mails from student social groups and the "Indiana VIE (voter initiative and education)" that are very liberal. There is an overall lack of conservative organizations on campus (I am not saying they do not exist).

THE STUDENT BODY KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS THAT THERE HAS TO BE A HEALTHY BALANCE BETWEEN ACADEMIC LIFE AND SOCIAL LIFE AND I BELIEVE THAT AT IUP THE STUDENTS HAVE MANAGED TO DO JUST THAT. WITH A WIDE RANGE OF STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS AND SPORTING ACTIVITIES, THE SOCILA ASPECT IS WORTH EXPERIENCING AND YOU WILL JUST LOVE IT!...THE STUDENT BODY ALSO WORKS TOGETHER IN CLASSES TO ASSURE THAT KNOWLEDGE SPREADS TO EVERYBODY AND THE SHARING OF INFORMATION IS JUST WHAT ONE NEEDS WHEN YOU ARE LEARNING AND STUDYING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM!...AND WITH A COUPLE OF PIZZA BOXES..YOU WILL BE GUARANTEED OF GETTING THE PHYSICS FORMULAES RIGHT!!...AND A FEW PEEKS AT FACEBOOK....LOL!

I don't think you have to feel out of place because you'll eventually find people just like you. Most students wear comfortable clothing such as sweats, shorts, t-shirts etc. Most IUP students come from philly and there are only a lilttle that come from somewhere different.
