When I tell people that I go to Hofsta, a lot of the time I get a responses saying it's STD central, and that everybody parties, and to always 'wrap it up' otherwise you're guaranteed to get some mythical STD known as the Hofstra Red. I've been here for four years, and haven't seen anything drastically different from stories friends tell me from other schools.
Another stereotype is that all the students are spoiled, rich, snobby people, especially the girls who wear the "Hofstra Girl" attire of mini-skirts, North Face jackets, and Ugg boots. You do see these clothes on a day to day basis, but it's also much more noticeable when you're looking out for a specific stereotype. Also, I've met many nice people who come from average income families.

That we are rich. That it is a rich school. That it is a bad school and we have a lot of red tape in different departments. The Hofstra Shuffle. Clubs and org are separated.

Some stereotypes about Hofstra students are that they are rich, lazy Long Island kids who have too much money and time on their hands and not enough intelligence. Due to the supposedly high rate of STDs, the "GPH" (General Population of Hofstra) is often said to be carrying the "Hofstra Red," an unknown cocktail of terrible sexual infections.

As anyone who goes to Hofstra will tell you, we sometimes get a bad rep. All you have to do is look up Hofstra on Urban Dictionary and you will get a picture of easy girls and drug-induced frat guys running a muck. As a senior, I know that those reputations can be true of some people, but I genuinely believe that it does not apply to most of us. At the heart of the student body are fun, friendly and kind students doing their best to succeed in college!

The main stereotypes that stick out in my mind are that they are all Italian tan and imitate the Gotti's. Most Hofstra students are thought to be one in the same. Another stereotype is that all the girls are rich and fake.
