Dealing with the financial aid and the registrar offices has always been an issue for anyone that I have spoken to. There are always long lines and I am constantly being redirected to other departments, making it difficult for anyone to answer even the simplest of questions. There should be a more organized and efficient system set in place, because this issue becomes a distraction in what is supposed to be a learning enviroment.

I DON'T FIND ANYTHING FRUSTRATING ABOUT MY SCHOOL.

Again, I attended the smaller campus and lived at home so I feel like it did not offer me the whole college experience

You really have to me on top of your assignments expecially the due dates. Most of the time more then one class assignments are due in the same week. Some assignments I feel are pointless especially when it's about 10 pages or more. Also the parking lot is very frustrating waiting for parking for about half an hour is a pain.

One of the most frustrating things is the parking. I waste plenty of gas each week driving around the lot and garages. Also, it is very hot in Miami so to walk from any parking on campus to any classroom is a distance.

The most frustrating thing about FIU is the staff is very difficult to deal with over the phone. Whether its sending your transcripts or trying to make an appointment to see your academic advisor, you have to drive to the campus and talk to the department directly. When on the phone, you'll be put on hold for a long time, then continuously transferred to different departments to be put on hold again, then finally told that you'll have to come into the department to actually get anything done.

What really gets my blood boiling about FIU has got to be the move from focusing on academics to athletics. I think that too much funding has gone to building a new statium to build school spirit and attract decent players and coaches that the administration and part of the student body may have forgoten the purpose of college as an academic institution. Especially now that our country is experiencing an economic downfall, I feel that the pressure is on to find ways to pay for classes, rent, insurance, and especially to eat. Us students need more financial help.

getting any help from anyone, they connect you to several different people before you can solve your problem

You're are totally thrown into the school, without much advice, and without much chance at recieving financial aid beyond Bright Futures, especially if you're white.
