Total enrollment in 2011 was 47,966 students, including 8,819 graduate students, so clearly the campus looks like Disney World in summer. Minorities make up 75{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of total enrollment, with lots of hispanics. FIU offers almost 200 academic programs, and business is the most popular. It has international campuses in China and Italy. Students are very politically aware, there is always some sort of protest going on, and they are predominantly liberal. Students will come to class in very beachy outfits for the hot South Florida weather.

As I have said before in response to other questions, FIU has a very diverse group of students so I don't think anyone will feel out of place. There are even some students who sit alone by the lake while reading a book and no one bothers them, and yet in Graham Center there may be a pep-rally going on. Everything is "normal". Being located in Miami, many students may be from here. Although I was born in Miami, I lived in Kansas for some time. I met some trainer at the gym whom is Persian and some guy from my SLS class who came here from France. I've also met some people with a German background, and me myself have a Cuban-Chinese background. My best friend is Colombian, and one of my new friends is Chinese as well. Most students at the Universty are from the middle-class, although it may vary. There are some who walk around with everything designer and some whom drive a normal Honda. I'd have to say most people, at least that I've met, are pretty liberal. It is kind of a party school, but not so much that no one cares about their studies either.

There are many different students at FIU. The school has a lot of diversity so I met people from all over with worldly knowledge and experience. Most students are kind and hold doors open for the next person and are polite. The only time people are rude is if you take their parking spot!
