The stereotypes at my school are the typical stereotypes on any college campus. It includes fraternity guys (who are really good looking and love flirting with girls), sorority girls (who are really loud and preppy), stoners (who get high to study for a test), and Student Government students (who are really involved and friendly). There is a great diversity of students at FAU. You'll find many different backgorunds and Nationalities.

Florida Atlantic University has a reputation for having for having very stuck up people that attend, and at first glance this may seem true as well. However, once you get to know the students in your classroom, you will find that this is a misnomer. Many of the students are friendly, polite, and willing to help if you are having trouble understanding what the teacher is saying.

There are also people who are sometimes classified as FOBs (Fresh Off the Boat). This is a common term in South Indian/Pakistani/Bengali community, used to describe people who commonly speak their native tongue with their peers and are usually not in tune with the latest fashions and styles.

Florida Atlantic University is known for having diversity within the students. A big percentage of students are commuters, therefore, the stereotype of students at FAU are students who focus on school while managing full/part time jobs, husbands, children, family, and saving money by staying home with their families. There are all kinds of different types of students, and Florida Atlantic University has them all.

One stereotype of students at FAU is that they settled for coming here instead of another University because they couldn't get into the ones they wanted, jokingly referred to as Find Another University. This is not true, while a very small population may have had nowhere else to go, I can confidently say that nobody is stuck here. All of us want to be here, and are glad we made it into this school.

From all over Florida, the FAU stereotype seems to be that all FAU students are rich and that most are Jewish. This however, is completely false. Along with every university, FAU does not discriminate based on nationality, religion, or social status. FAU is in fact, an extremely multicultural university where students come from all over the US. Everyone is welcome at FAU and students come to FAU because they want to be a part of such an endearing and friendly university atmosphere.

Our students are very diverse. All of our student groups demonstrate many cultural interests including various religious groups, an outstanding LGBTQA resource center, and many different cliques ranging from typical jocks to intellectual students that discuss contemporary sociological theories. We have many fraternities and sororities as well that include students of many different backgrounds.

For FAU, the stereotype would be everyone attending is rich. The main campus is located in Boca Raton which is a fairly higher income area. However, many of the students are just like everyone else that has been hit in this economic situation. Many students' go to school, get an education, and make friends. Though the good thing about FAU is that their different campuses are driving distances for the most part. For example, I go to the main campus and their Davie campus; so you can definitely tell many of these students have jobs in the area and majority of them drive and make the same amount as you. In fact most of the time, students are in school just to get a degree and get a better job.

The stereotype is that students at FAU do not want to spend so much time on doing one thing; that they are not so motivated to go above and beyond. This is true for some of the students at FAU but by no means does this apply to the majority of the students at FAU. The student body is super competitive and is willing to do anything to make a great impression.
