What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Jackie

Personally, I wish I would have known the requirements of applying to F.A.M.U.'s College of Pharmacy as a freshman. Instead, I had to choose another major and take those courses that correspond to those of the Pharmacy curriculum and wait to apply.

Nothing.

Raymond

I researched my school before I made my choice.

The financial aid situation

Jessica

Growing up is hard to do. Always check, check, and re-check when it comes to money. Keep your receipts.

I wish I would have had a better understanding of money management before I set foot on FAMU's campus. I came to college from a fairly poor family so my budget was not very large. I mismanaged my funds and before the first month was over I was calling my mother for food money. I think that school should put in a finance class into high school senior curriculum so that they can be better prepared to take on the task of handling funds for survival.

Gregory

That the school wasn't very helpful.

I wish I had known about how much their out-of-state tuition was and how horrible they are toward us with financial aid issues. Out-of-state students pay over $545 per credit hour compare to $105 per credit hour for in-state students. In-state students recieve more financial aid awards than out-of-state who may have a better GPA standing as well as a more financial need.
