What should every freshman at Everglades University know before they start?

As an adult student, it has taken me 16 years and a family to discover what career I wanted to pursue; having to overcome personal obstacles has taught me empathy. I plan to use this to benefit those in need as I pursue my career in the legal field. Being able to help someone who is struggling with an issue they don't understand, and bringing them some measure of peace is the goal that I have for myself. The decision to return to school was not an easy one; family and financial responsibilities have not made it as smooth as it might have been when I was 18, however, I feel very fulfilled with my choice as well as proud of my performance in school. Even though it took awhile to know what I wanted to pursue, knowing that there will be an exciting career ahead of me eases any stresses that I might come across. I applaud anyone who makes the decision to go back to school if they are not fresh out of highschool; perhaps for them the choice is even more poignant and says so much about where they have been and where they are going.

If I could go back to high school I would have taken advantage to the extra help I could have gotten to receive a better gpa. Yet no one in my family had gone to college. My mom hasn't had a great time with work since there were many lay off occurring. I used to attend PBCC until I decide what career I really wanted to do. Now I will attend Everglades University in Boca Raton Florida this Feb. which I will attend there for four years to receive my bachelor in Aviation Management degree. My advice to high school students is be persistent and find a way to go to college even if there isn?t money available, so that you later in life you don?t regret it when your only making 30,000 a year instead of 60 plus. Thanks to all for their help associated with helping you find your way.

to do your best and try harder. you may think what you do now does not matter that much right now and that it won't affect you later, but it does. so think about your future now and deceide what you want to do wtih and take it seriously.

It's ok if you don't know exactly what it is that you want to do with the rest of your life. You will figure that out as you go through life and the many stages that it takes you through. Choose to take that challenge and step outside your comfort zone; there are so many wonderful people waiting to meet you, and so, so much to learn in school. don't be afraid because it's a big world out there, be adventurous and daring, because it is a big and wonderful world filled with knowledge and good people. it is such a privledge and a blessing to be able to attend college and learn. Take advantage of that privledge and get the most out of everything. It doesn't really matter where you go to school, your education is what you make of it. Set your expectations high, and then go after them. You just might surprise yourself at how well you can do. Be confident and confidence will follow you where ever you go.

If I had the ability to turn back time and speak to myself when I was a high school senior, I would truly change everything. I would tell myself to over exceed what I tried to accomplish and to never give up. The opportunities that I had given up are truly regretable. Viewing myself as a high school senior would truly overwhelm me and I would tell myself to change the way I perceived life and the future. That now that I attend college, I believe that I could have suceeded in many aspects. I would encourage myself to reject to those who didn't appreciate me for whom I was, and to apprecite those who truly were the for me. Overall, that the actions that I took were minimal compared to the those that I could have taken advantage of.

Do not be intimidated by the size of the class, the size of the campus, or the amount of studying you will have to do. Stand firm in your beliefs because you will be tempted to do things you would not do in high school to make friends. Do not be afraid to get involved. Being involved on campus will give you the opportunity to make friends. Some of these friendships will last the rest of your life. Do not be discouraged when things do not turn out the way you hoped at first. In the end they will turn out better than what you could imagine. This time you spend in college will equip you with the tools that you will need to live your life the way you want it to be lived.

I would have told myself to really decide what will make me happy. Beause going to work everyday, (besides getting very old, very fast), just to get paid is not enjoyable. A little piece of you dies everyday you settle for something less than you deserve. You need to be in a career that you want to get out of bed to go to everyday. Something that makes you happy, something you want to do and are not doing because you have to.........
