Classes=good. Everything else=sucks

Emerson has received a lot of very positive and very sudden recognition in its theatre, film, and writing departments. This has caused the school to receive a lot more applicants and accept a lot more students than it has previously. The administration isn't quite catching up to the school's sudden popularity and growth, so a lot of things are under construction in terms of dorms and general policies. Each class Emerson welcomes will most likely be even better and more talented than the one preceding it, but until the administration can deal with us all, it's going to be hard to fully enjoy Emerson as the smaller classes have.

The dorms are really nice compared to a lot of other schools' dorms. The floors are brightly lit, wide... perfect for Freshmen to hang out in. Each floor has a common room with a TV, stove, microwave. One problem with Emerson is that there's not really any place you can go if you want privacy. For example, if you need to have a serious phone conversation (and don't want to tell your roommate to leave), people usually sit in the laundry room or in the stairwell. If those spots are taken, then too bad.
The dining hall is decent. The Home cooking is kind of crappy because half the time the food will taste terrible and half the time it'll be really good. The Grill is the safest way to go usually, along with the Deli section.
Emerson is a VERY different kind of school as compared to most colleges and universities. There are a lot of students who transfer out of Emerson after a semester or two, because lots of kids come and then find that it's not what they expected. If you want big sports teams to cheer for, then you'll be disappointed. If you want beautiful campus grounds where you can take nice strolls and think to yourself "what a beautiful campus," then you'll be disappointed. If you want to take math/science courses.... go away and look at a MIT review instead. In any case, if you are very driven to work in communications and/or the arts and love the city life, then Emerson can do wonders for you. If you decide to come to Emerson... one little heads up, the Orientation kind of sucks. I don't think I talk to anybody I met through orientation activities anymore. Hopefully it'll be different for you.

Definitely don't regret a darned thing in coming here and in my four years here; this place was perfect for me from the start and has helped me grow in so many ways.

Emerson will academically challenge you, as well as open your eyes to new lifestyles and cultures you have never interacted with before.

If you want a career in communications, especially journalism, theater or writing for film/TV, then Emerson has an excellent reputation and will open the door to a ton of connections. If you say you go/went to Emerson then people will be IMPRESSED. I'm quiet and I don't speak up about my opinions unless I'm asked directly, so I'm in the minority and I'm overshadowed by the bigger characters. I don't go to Emerson because I have things in common with the majority of the student body, I go to Emerson because it will look good on my resume, my professors know what they're talking about, and future employers in my field of journalism know that Emerson students are better prepared for the job than students from almost every other college in the country, and will require much less ''real world'' training before they are ready to start working.

Not really. Emerson is a wonderful school.

I said more than enough I think :) haha

Emerson College: Wholly responsible for keeping the words "postmodern" and "aristotilean" in the vernacular.
Emerson College: We're unique in the exact same way!

Emerson is a small school where you will get to know almost everyone. The teachers are really chill and your a name here not a number. If you want a regular college experience don't come here. It's very different from any other college.
