I think this school deals with a lot of particular majors and is very catered to students who know exactly what they want to do after leaving. It sucks that we have to take so many "general education" courses but the courses we do take that are for our major are impeccable, with teachers who are usually involved in whatever area they are teaching, eg: my intro to creative writing:fiction teacher is a writer with published works who has had to deal with the publishing/writing industry out in the "real world." I have had some issues with the students here because they are very "eccentric" students, who can sometimes become "divas" in whatever area they are intrenched in. Since such a great segment of the population here is either a female or a gay male it is hard to find a good personality balance, but once you find a niche of your own it doesn't seem so insane. Bring your own television.

I am proud to be part of the Emerson community. It really is one of my best accomplishments so far. I transferred there this semester and I already feel like I am looking at a brighter future because of it.

If I had a second choice, I'd probaby go to Northeastern. That said, WERS 88.9 FM, the campus radio station, is the only reason I'm still here.

This school has a lot to offer, but it isn't the traditional college experience. In a lot of ways that is a good thing, allows you to create your own experience, but don't expect tailgating of football games and chest painting and ivy walls-- although all of that is T accessible if you're craving a little taste of it.

Emerson is just awesome! It has a lot of equipment and clubs available for anyone going into communication related things.

I do not recommend Emerson to anyone.
it is expensive, it feels like a cell phone plan that is designed to eat up minutes. In this case the school eats up your time with their horrible classes.
If you are interested in film, know this: Emerson does not supply you with equipment. Technically they do, but you have to be approved for every light or camera you try to take out. There have been a lot of reports about equipment being broken and in disrepair.
As a film student, you will direct maybe 3 films in your four years at Emerson (and thats if you have a lot of money). Most students really only direct their senior film, and ALL students rent their equipment from rental houses, which creates astronomical costs for these little student productions.
If you are considering being a film major at Emerson (the Visual Media Arts department being the biggest department at Emerson), ask yourself this: Should I go to a college film program that does not supply me with any of the equipment I need?

This is a crucial time for Emerson College. It seems ready to grow as an institution, and I believe that any actions taken during this time will have a great effect on the future of the institution.

I really feel that Emerson was the right place for me. However, if you want a traditional college experience this place is not for you. In addition, this school is really great if you are interested in pursuing something that has to do with television, film, or radio.

You want to be ready for when you get out there no matter who you are (actor, writer, director, marketer, PR, teacher, communication disorder major, whatever) and want to use state of the art facilities and get individual attention in your craft? Come to Emerson.

The biggest problem with the school is housing and course selection. They are terribly organized and have a tendency to screw students out of things they need.
