One of the best things about Eastern Michigan University is the diversity you see on campus. There are people here from so many different cultures and the student body is very friendly and welcoming. I've made a lot of friends since studying at EMU and I always enjoy their company!
The Halle Library is huge, for starters. There are a ton of books contained within the walls of EMU's library and you could find information on pretty much anything you want, and if it's not available directly on campus, you can have it ordered! Which makes research that much easier.
Eastern is not too large nor is it too small of a campus, it's right in the middle. It's compact, so it doesn't take long to walk to classes from any point on campus, which is a plus in the winter, and their are plenty of things to do during your time off classes.
On Fridays the Student Center shows new movies. Every week there is something new and there are a multitude of events and activities on campus.

Being at a University is Awesome. There are so many new people to meet and plenty of opportunities for networking. More importantly universities are usually diverse within the students.

EMU is a great school that I am proud to say I attend. It doesn't have the quite the "party school" reputation of Western or Central, but is still fun. It is in the middle of Ypsilanti, MI which is the quintessential college town. There are cool shops, bars, and restaurants in Ypsi that many EMU students frequent. When you enter Ypsilanti, you really feel like you have entered EMU territory, there are school banners on lightpost everywhere. One big issue with the city is that it tends to be dangerous. It seems like a few times a month the school is sending e-mails alerting the campus community of a mugging or burglary near campus. EMU's president, Dr. Susan Martin is very visible and has created a very positive atmosphere on campus. I feel that the current administration is doing alot to advance the profile of EMU in a positive way. EMU's campus is very beautiful and park-like. It is littered with sculptures and fountains and is well-maintained. The student center is fairly new and gorgeous and the landscape surounding it is stunning. The student center was built near two man-made lakes, with a bridge and lakehouse. Many students complain about the parking on campus, but this is do to the supposed lack of parking close to the academic buildings. There is usually good parking way on the north end of campus.
