The size is just perfect, not too big, not too small. Charleston is a vacation destination for many people, so it is cool to live in a place other people are only lucky enough to visit. The beach is 10 minutes away, and on the weekends the campus is deserted due to all the beach bums and surfers who couldn't get to the beach fast enough after class on Friday afternoon. The downtown atmosphere is nice because there is always something to do within walking distance.

This school is the perfect size, you always see friends and people that you know around campus, but at the same time, you constantly meet new people. People have either not heard of us, or they are extremely jealous of us. Being right by the beach and enjoying the perfect, year-round weather makes the atmosphere laid back and relaxing. Being in the middle of a city makes it easy to party every day of the week, especially since there are bars on every block, but at the same time, it's not hard to study if you need to get work done.

Best thing about C of C is the atmosphere. City feel with the beach ten minutes away. Great party school and awesome bar scene. I would change the hiring of liberal teachers. Great size. People tell me they are jealous when I tell them they go to C of C. Most of my time on campus is at the cafeteria, which is new. There is about zero school pride. Maybe 400 people will go to basketball games out of 10,000. I'll always remember my friends.

The College of Charleston is not about the College, it is about Charleston. The school thrives as a part of the city within the bars, local shops, and cultural scene. Don't come here if you are looking for the typical college town because you'll get a lot more! Remember it's the friendliest city in the US (five years in a row now!) and you will see a ton of tourists!

The computer system and webmail is always messed up!

The best thing about CofC is the location and the history involved in the city and with the school. I would change the parking situation, adding more of it. School size is perfect. People react to CofC by asking how I am graduating, because it is very hard to juggle all the school work and the distractions, beach and bars. On campus I spend most time in the library. This is a town with a college wrapped in it, the city is tied in with the school and vice versa. The administration seems to be there to help the students, in whatever way possible. The biggest recent controversy was probably the drilling for new buildings, it makes so much noise especially during exams, or it could be raising the printing fines. Not a ton of school pride, no football team. I would say our student body is pretty unusual, the extremes of characters. Also, how conservative the state is but how liberal the college is. I'll always remember going into class and having students not wearing shoes, while the next one by them have Gucci bags and are friends. Most frequent complaints are parking, no football team, and not enough advertising of school sports, and of course too much school work.

Cofc's advising is horrible!!! I like most of the teachers and they are VERY helpful most of the time when you need them. I do not feel that there is a much school pride as I would want us to have. I wish I went to a school where everyone liked going to the basketball games and baseball games.

The best thing about College of Charleston is the small classroom and the teacher to student ratio. I feel as though I am not just a number in a class. My professors know my name and care about me learning material. They are not out to fail me. They want to see my succeed. I think CofC is the perfect size. It's big enough to continue to meet people everyday but also small enough to see your friends walking around campus. College of Charleston is also shaped a lot by the city of Charleston. There is always something to do and many people stay in the area because of the many job opportunities. I wouldn't call Charleston a "college town" but the city more or less shapes the College and it's diversity. There isn't much school pride because athletics are not huge. The biggest change I would make at CofC would be adding a football program. Not only would that give more students pride in the school it would also draw more students to the College.

The environment and location in Charleston. I wish we had a football team. I think cofc is the perfect size because it is not too small but it gives individuals attention with smaller class sizes but our school is large enough to give the big campus feel. They have heard of Charleston and think that is nice but typically haven't heard of cofc. I spend most of my time on campus in the stern center or library. I think its a college town. I think cofc administration is very good. I think there is some student pride but there should be more. It is unusual that our cofc campus is right in the heart of Charleston and many that are unfamiliar with the town can miss it.

The best thing about CofC would have to be the city. Cofc is right in the heart of charleston and there are so many great shops and restaurants to enjoy. Also, it is 15 min from the beach. I would change the weather. I actually like the cold and it gets to a point where its unbearably hot to go outside. Cofc is the perfect size. When I tell people that I go to Cofc, I either hear "wow you are so lucky to be in such an amazing city" or "ohhhh... the party school of the south." I spend a ton of time in the library (its gorgeous! and a great place to study) and on King Street, either shopping or just walking around with friends. CofC is the ideal college town! ITS AMAZING!. I don't know much about the administration. There is next to no school pride. i mean i guess there is a little, people where cofc clothing all the time but other than that.... no school spirit. One thing i will always remember is the sensitivity of the fire alarms in the dorms. they literally go off even if you are taking a really hot shower. the steam sets them off. one thing about the school is that the retention rate is really low. a ton of kids transfer out after first or second semester
