What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I am a 31 year old single mother, finally making the decision to go back to school and purue my education in which I have been longing for. If I could go back in time, I would definitely tell my younger self to please stay in school, stop ditching and finish my senior. Go to as many college tours that I could muster. Choose a prominent culturally diverse university, to get the best education and experiences. Join social networks and study groups, most of all study smart not hard. Reward myself after completion of a project, but not before. Take the present more seriously, because it will most definitely affect my future.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about my Highschool is that is really small. There is not enought diversity and everything is brake into small comunities based on minorities. Finally, counciling is terible; they do not talk much about scholarships or universities that might help us in a future.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
What I usually brag to my friends and family about my school is the fact that Harry S. Truman College has a diverse of students. I find myself continueously repeating that " ALL WALKS OF LIFE, ATTEND AND WORK AT MY SCHOOL, AND I LOVE IT! Growing up in a predominately african american neighborhood where poverty lies, was an extreme headache for me. At Truman I found myself interacting with different races and cultures, forming friendships and social networks. This is something that I only dreamed of when I was a child, and now my dream has come true.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The most frustrating thing about school is tuition payment. They don't accept a lot of public grants or financial aid, so most payment is required in full before a new semester can start. Although the credit hours are more affordable than other local colleges, it is still hard to work full time and pay my tuition my myself.
