Central Michigan University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Mariah

Before coming to Central Michigan I wish I had known how much effort I would need to put forth into my classes. The transition from high school to college was slightly difficult for me but I have been able to adjust rather quickly. Not everyone is prepared for college when you first come into it. Moving away from home and expected to do it all on your own is something you cant prepare for until you live it.

Before I came to this school, I wish I would have known what field of study I wanted to go into. This year, I am taking many differnet types of classes to see what I am passionate about pursuing. Many of my classes are very interesting and now I am having an even harder time deciding what to go into.

Keely

All the different resources available and exactly what every major can do for you.

Krista

I wish I had known what little there was to do around Central Michigan. On the weekends, it's basically party or go to the casino if you don't want to be ridiculed about being lame or a party pooper. So basically either spend your calorie budget or your cash budget. Not the best way to spend your time. Sure, you're there to attend classes and gain a degree but a student shouldn't feel like they need to create an activity just to take up their time.

Samantha

Before I came to this school I wish I took a lot more Advanced Placement classes.

Jonathan

I wish I knew the importance of studying before exams.

Jordan

I wish I would have known about all of the services and social events offered on campus. You can always find who need to talk to about question that you may have and there is always something going on, on or around campus that you can easily get involved it. I don’t think it is possible for someone to say that Central offers them nothing.

Brianne

Before coming to Central, I wish I would've known how huge the campus is. I had visited before, of course, but when you're not actually attending the school, the campus doesn't seem so big and scary. You visit a few buildings on the tour and call it good. But when you're here, attending CMU, the campus is massive and feels like its own little town. It's a lot to get used to.

Justin

I felt I knew msotly everything I needed to know - particularly because of the information given to me during orientation.

Sarah

There really isn't anything I wish I knew before going to my school. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to get involved on campus. At Central there are so many opportunities/club/groups to get involved with and although I'm involved now I wish I had gotten involved right away my freshman year.
