What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year at Calvin College?

I would have liked to have known how to get books cheap. I also would have liked to have known how registering for classes and how majors and minors worked. I grew up in Europe, so it took me a lot longer to figure everything out than most people here.

I wish I had comprehended how challenging it was, in the academic sense. Also, perhaps, the methods by which learning occurs--most especially the fact that daily assignments and quizes are often offered in classes to encourage students to attend each class each day it is offered.

I wish I had known more about myself and about the world. I knew enough about Calvin. I also wish I had known more about other colleges and taken the time to research and visit them.
