Always visit the campus and research on the particular program of the potential college the student could possibly major in.

If they want there child to be safe but not trapped and to have fun and learn a lot, they should attend Cal Poly Pomona. You also get your money's worth because it is pretty affordable compared to other campuses.

Students (and parents) should realize that even if they don't get into their first-choice school, they still will learn, which is what college is all about. Students can get the most out of their college experience by actively participating on campus through clubs and organizations or through joining sport teams. Students should make time to spend with their friends, but also take their studies seriously, which means turning in homework on time, not ditching class, and studying an appropriate amount of time before tests. Students should get to know their classmates, advisers, and professors because it will greatly enhance their enjoyment of college if they get to know lots of people. Even if students don't end up earning a degree , they should still understand that the knowledge they gained and the friendships they developed and cultivated in college can last a lifetime.

Dont let the name of the school or the reputation affect where your child goes, i got alot of weird looks and sighs when i said where i was going and now i am happier than any of my friends who went to places such as brown, stanford and ucla. My friends were pressured into going to big names school and was not given the chance to go somewhere they loved like i was. I consider myself very lucky.

When your major is decided research all schools that offer that major and different areas within your major. Once various schools are found go and visit them, walk around campus, meet with some advisors, administration, and talk to some students that attend that school. Doing that will allow you to judge if that school is right for you in different ways. When you choose the college that is right for you sign up for clubs, get involved and get to know your professors and peers. The more involved you are the better chances you have in succeeding in your futrue area of interest. You make long life friends, career connections, and get help from professors in getting into graduate schools.

Study hard when necessary but have a social life also. College is the greatest experience of my life so far.

To find the right college, you need to look for diversity in the majors and the clubs and organizations that are offered.
Definitely, your first-choice major should be available. Like many college students, you may have doubts about your major and may want to change it. If you do decide to change, you may want to consider back-up majors that you may also be interested in.
Simply taking classes and going home is quite boring and is not part of the full college experience. That is why it is important that the university you are considering should to have a wide variety of clubs and organizations so that at least one suits your interests. Clubs and organizations are a great way to pursue an interest and share it with others, network, and make many friends, hopefully forging lifelong friendships.
