What is the stereotype of students at Butler University? Is this stereotype accurate?

Emilie

Spoiled rich kids and absolutely! But we are all inteligent and are getting a great education!

Kyle

I've heard people say that Butler has a reputation for being full of stuck up white rich kids. There is also a stereotype that everyone is Greek. I would not agree with the first stereotype. Every person I've ever me or encountered on campus has been friendly, and I think Butler has a true community feel to it. As far as Greek life, a good portion of campus is Greek, but more people are not affiliated with a house. Either way, you can find things to do, and be included in on campus activities.

There is no stereotype at Butler. We have fraternities, sororities, and those who do not get into greek life, but beyond that aspect there are few separations of people. There are no jocks and the fraternities and sororities are social with all of campus not just within themselves. Butler is growing as a very driven academic school as a whole that expects a lot from students.

Carly

The stereotype of Butler students is stuck-up, rich, white students. Sometimes the stereotype is true. Butler lacks in diversity, but everyone is exceptionally friendly.

I really don't feel like we have an overall general stereotype. The only thing I can think of is "rich kids," just because it is a private school and it is expensive. However, I don't really feel like that stereotype is that accurate. We have a wide variety of people at Butler.

Only Smart AND Rich students can come here. I think "smart" means more than just a "geek". Academics, making smart decisions, prioritizing, and being involved both in and out of school is what smart qualifies as because that's a well rounded student, and yes, students at Butler are like this. I don't know what rich really means. Does it mean family salary of $50,000 or $500,000? Yes, Butler is a pricey school, but the a lot of financial aid is available.

Alyssa

At Butler, there aren't really stereotypes. Yeah, there are those who are jocks, frat kids, whatever, but everyone pretty much accepts people for who they are. Its a small school so students usually fit into multiple categories.
