Student Government, Greek Life

There are so many student activities on campus. We have over 150 clubs/student organizations, so there is something for everyone; from sign language club, to Dance Marathon. I am personally involved in Relay for Life, Bulldogs Against Breast Cancer, and I am in a social sorority. Athletic events, especially basketball, are very popular on campus. The student section, "Dawg Pound", is definitely something I would recommend to everyone. Our student government association plans events every weekend that don't involve drinking, but there are parties too. No matter what you're into, you can find something fun on or off campus.

Many philanthropic groups are popular because Butler is big on fundraising. This year for our Dance Marathon which raises money for Riley Hospital we had a 12 event which raised over 108,000 dollars for Riley! Organizations like this as well as student government clubs. There are so many choices that often people are split up enough where there is always something to be involved in during the year. As other college campuses, people do go out on the weekends but it is not what Butler is known for as a school. The party atmosphere is nothing like big schools. The police force as well as students in general take great pride in being safe when making decisions. Weekends offer much more then drinking such as movie events, dry dance parties, and performances that are constantly going on at Clowes.

I would say the most popular student activities involve the greek life of sororities and fraternities. Butler also has a wide variety of other groups and organizations and many students are involved in. Butler University Dance Marathon for Riley Hospital is one of the biggest if not the biggest organization on campus. We also have club sports teams and intramural sports that student's participate in. I am a part of 4 different honor societies, as well as P.A.W.S., which is Peers Advocating Wellness for Students. We focus on health issues that affect college students and raise awareness for these issues, to try and get the word out and make campus safer and healthier.

Many students are involved in our SGA (Student Government Association). A lot of people are also involved Intramurals. Students also get involved in a diverse range of clubs including BSU, MATH Club, Sangam, Dawg Pound (students that get special seats at games and other offers), etc.

Butler offers a variety of clubs, intramural sports, volunteer opportunities, and Greek life. Some of the most popular are Dawg Pound and BU Dance Marathon.
