yes we are an ivy league school. no we are not all nerds. brown offers tons of activities to do that does not involve an all-nighter in the scili. there are clubs and teams for everything imaginable; and those that do not exist are just waiting for the next leader to create them. there is a fun bar scene, but that does not mean that you have to drink to have a good time. trivia night is popular among the students where drinking is not the main focus of the night. spring week(end) is also epic here. in short, here the deal is work hard, play hard. while trying to change the world here, students also know when its time to kick back and have fun.

There are lots of student groups to join. There are club sports too. There is an activities fair where the clubs and activities at brown come together and show what they have to offer. Go to that! I haven't tap danced in 4 years and I luckily brought my tap shoes to Brown; I went to the fair and found an awesome tap dancing group called What's on Tap?. Athletic events are fun to go to. The athletes at Brown play a sport to represent the school and spend many many hours doing that sport - go show your school and fellow classemates some pride! There is a social life at Brown, even though we are "nerds". There are frat parties and parties at the athletic houses. People are really open and friendly, so you can walk into someones room, if the door is open, and talk for a bit and become friends!

There are a few sororities on campus as well as frats. I am in a sorority.
They are great. There are also off campus ones.
If you are awake at 2 am on a tuesday, you ought to be studying because everything is closed. Yes students leave their doors open but not me. Athletic events are very popular. People party a lot..it is excercizing in pretty clothes. Last week end I was watching movies in my room. There are a lot of activities that do not involve drinking.. i mean A LOT!!!and you are guaranteed to have fun.
I go to the mall a lot!! and to the restaurants downtown.

Brown has a rich mixture of activities that are particularly strong in dance and a cappella. Drama here is quite good as well, and the art department seems very strong. If one really wants, one can really find a huge amount of activities to while away the extra time they have from taking that fourth class pass/fail.

I have no idea what is the most popular activity here. I would say organized protest lol.

Make your own club or join one. Anything goes at this university, from pole dancing clubs to improvisation music clubs (where they take regular toys and turn them into instruments) to your jock-filled football team - we've got it all.

Brown has so many varsity and club athletic teams. Athletes do not just hang out with themselves, but they definitely become close with their teammates. THere are 5 frats, which throw parties, and 2 sororities. Greek life isn't huge, which many pledges like because it doesn't consume their life but is a good way to make friends. usually on weekends, my friends and I go to dorm or house parties, maybe a frat party, and usually end up at a bar. Very easy to use fake IDs. Theater is great. Many guest speakers, but mostly liberal.

Brown Democrats are one of the biggest student groups on campus, but there is a group for everyone out there, from student radio to tae kwon do, to ARR the pirate a capella group. It's awesome.
There's usually stuff to do on weekends, from our late-night non-drinking fund which sponsors activities like contra dance, board game tournaments and nail painting, to frat-sponsored parties with nasty-ass "punch" and loud hip-hop. Improv groups and a Capella groups perform, there's a lot of student-run theater too, which is always good.
Basically there is a place for everyone here, and whatever interest you have, there is probably a group for it. If not, you can make one.

Brown gets lots and lots of guest speakers (some really great ones, and some not so great) - there is something for everyone. There isn't as much school spirit as I would like, but there is still a decent attendance at major sporting events. The dating scene is a bit odd. It seems as though students are either 'married' or just hooking up drunkenly. Few in between, though it can happen. I met my closest friends in my freshman unit, and also through my boyfriend.
Social life is good. If you want to party, you can ALWAYS find one, either off campus or on. Brown sponsors some pretty raucous parties throughout the year. There's also stuff to do if you don't drink - movie screenings, theatre, games with your friends, club sports, study breaks (lots of free food!), guest speakers, etc...

the social life is quite good here. a lot of frat parties on weekends and if that's not your scene then there are a few bars in Providence or clubs in NYC and Boston which are not too far away. Students here usually stay up late as work takes forever to do since you're always chatting with your friends.
