Honestly.. this school seemed like my dream school and here I am three years later hating every waking minute I have to be here. Becker College has lied to me about transfer credits they would take of mine. They gave me a grant but apparently made a mistake on it which ended up making my tuition even more expensive in the middle of a semester. I had to skip a semester because of a past due to balance and they wouldn't let me register for courses. This school is a private school and that's important because don't think for a second that they would rather see you get your education until they can get every single dime out of you first. The staff here is beyond incompetent. I had 3 different staff members tell me different stories about why my bill changed. No one is on the same page there. I have a couple great teachers there but the rest are the laziest people I have ever had to learn from. Most teachers don't even come up with original material most of it is copy and paste from websites. Some professors don't even write their names or the right class year on the syllabus. They just recycle the same garbage from the previous year. I had a teacher for the 2 years I had her class not spell my name right even though it spelled in the email. I told her several times and she refused to acknowledge it. There are barely any people of color that go to this school and it makes you feel like an outsider. Some of the teachers don't respond to emails or get back to you. Overall I don't recommend this school at all and if I had the opportunity I would take all my money back and start over at a new school.

I think that Becker puts a lot of focus into certain majors, which makes sense because they are the majors that it is known for. I think that they should listen to how students feel about how the professors are teaching them because sometimes an entire class may fail a class and the school doesn't seem to do anything about it.

Jackie - 05/24/2020

At the start of my arrival of Becker College, it was rather nerve racking and overwhelming. It was such a huge transition from being a simple high school student to a full fledged college occupant, but soon I became accustomed to my environment and everything just fell into place. The college's facilities were not by any means high class or top notch, but it was comfortable to say at least. But what makes Becker College worth while is its staff and faculty, who are very down to earth and supportive of their students. So overall, I believe that Becker College is a good experience and worth the time to attend.

Amara - 02/17/2020

Becker is a very small but welcoming community. Everyone takes in freshman like they're long lost family members and seeks to help in any way they can. The smaller class size enables a lot of professors to be one-on-one with students, allowing for an easier learning environment for me. The first year housing is not as clean as it could be, but there is a maintenance and janitorial team that is available by email.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice that I would give myself is to not wait till the last minute for homework and other assignments. This will just be a huge stress load. Once an assignment is given to you get that done right away. This will make life so much easier. Also I wish I knew making new friends would be so easy. I was stressing over meeting new people and having to make new friends all over again and it was so easy. The next thing I would tell myself is since your paying for college you might as well try your best. This is not high school no one is looking out for you except your self. Your future relise on these next four years and you want to give it your best. The last thing that I would tell my self is that these next four years are going to be some of the best years of your life and that when a new opportunity shows up do not be afraid to just run with it. Becasue you never know what direction your life will take.

  5. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

My school is more unique then other schools I considered because it's a lot smaller than the ones I got accepted into. I got accepted to Rhode Island College, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Uconn at the other campuses besides the main campus in Storrs, CT. All of the those colleges have a lot more people. My college is tiny which allows everyone to usually become friends. You will always find a best friend at my college. The professors are people who came from what they did in life themselves. The school is good.

  13. What are the academics like at your school?

One of the main things that I love about the school is that fact that all of my professors know me by name, not just one of the students in the class. All the classes that deal with my major I absolutely LOVE, usually everyone is eager to participate and interact with one another. Becker offers really great programs like Nursing, Veterinary Science, Criminal Justice, Business, Interior Design and my favorite Legal Studies. The program is designed in a way that allows students to grown and understand each aspect of the law. All the professors that teach the law classes are amazing and they are practicing attorneys, which is a big plus.

  16. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Some of the most popular groups at Becker include SGA (student government association); SASSY; Becker Journal; Nursing Club; Ski and Snowboard Club; Yearbook etc. Also if there is a particular club that students would like to make up they can, I'm not really sure how it works out. Athletics are very popular and the basketball team, the Hawks won the ECAC championship for the 2008-2009 season. There are also A LOT of student activities every single day, from yoga to field trips you will never be bored..

  17. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Not necessarily. Any college or university student will get out of college what they've decided to. The quality of one's education is not based upon the institution one enters, but on the amount of effort the individual student puts in. One could attend an Ivy League and graduate with little more skills or abilities then they went in with, however if one is driven, focused, and motivated, no matter where he/she is they can graduate with a world class education.
