Sororities and fraternities are very common at Arizona State University. The Planning and Activities Board(PAB) throws many students events every month. Some of the most popular events include the Spring Luau, Devil Palooza, Sun Devil Homecoming, Oozeball, and the ASU Undie Run.

Arizona State has some of the best activities and groups of any university. Football season is without a doubt the most fun part of the semester. Everyone goes to the games fully decked out in their gold attire, ready to cheer on ASU to a victory. Traditions such as white washing the giant 'A' on our A Mountain, the lantern walk up A Mountain, the parade, and the masquerade dance are all unforgettable. One of the best memories I had this semester was the free Lupe Fiasco concert hosted by ASU. It felt like the whole school was there, making it one of the most friendly and exciting environments I have ever been in. With all the clubs and groups that ASU offers, even when it's not football season, you are sure to have an amazing time. From sport clubs, fitness clubs, religious clubs, fraternities, sororities and a large amount of fan based clubs such as our Harry Potter Quidditch club, every student is sure to find a group they love. The campus is located right next to Mill Ave and Tempe Market Place, making it easy to go shopping or even just hang out.

There are so many student activities that are always taking place on campus. Football games are a big turnout- it is so exhilarating to be in the student section! You haven't experienced a sporting event until you get decked out in gold and stand while chanting with your peers on to victory.
ASU offers many intramural sports which also have big turnouts. There is every type of activity you can participate in from dance to dodgeball. Intramural sports are a fun way to do something you love, but not having to compete against other schools.
We also have a big theater program that is always putting on plays, musicals, etc. As well as having student production, there are so many professional productions throughout the year! Big hits this year have included shows such as "Wicked" and "West Side Story".
ASU is all for traditions; there are an abundant amount that take place throughout the year. Some memorable ones include: the welcome back concert, Devilpalooza (the ASU equivalent to Lollapalooza), and whitewashing 'A' mountain (this is done by the freshman to symbolize a new chapter of life).
The main campus is in Tempe. There are a variety of places to hang out nearby such as shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants, Tempe Town Lake, and downtown Phoenix. And if you want to stay on campus for the weekend, there are still tons of things to do such as go to the bowling alley in the student union, play ping pong at the recreation center, go swimming in the pools, or just hang out with friends.
Whether it is participating in an ASU tradition, attending a sporting event, or seeing a play- there is always something to do here at ASU.

One of the largest student groups I'm a part of is Greek life. I didn't make the decision to pledge a fraternity until my second semester, but it's one of the best decisions I made. Obviously a fraternity provided me with a great social life, but it helped me with a lot more. My fraternity helped encourage me to maintain good grades as well as distinguish myself as a leader on campus. Naturally, my closest friends are in my fraternity and I have a great time with them, not necessarily just at parties.
I also made a lot of friends in the dorms that I'm still in contact with. Freshman are required to live in the dorms their first year, and it's a great way to get to know people. I lived in the Barrett dorms, where the majority of kids were very focused on their studies. Initially I preferred a more lax atmosphere, like that of Hassayampa, but being in good company helped me develop good study habits.
My advice with a student organization is to get involved anyway you can. It's advice that's beat in to your head, but it's especially necessary in college. My fraternity takes up the majority of my time, but in the past I was part of a mixed martial arts club that was very fun. My other friends have gotten involved with an a Capella group, ultimate Frisbee, and volleyball. Organizations in college are all about pursuing your interests and having fun. They are also the best way to meet people.
